I recently stumbled on a card technique which intrigued me and decided to give it a try, it was the HERRINGBONE technique. Since I still love the HOPSCOTCH paper pack, I thought it would be perfect for this project.  I also used the new Operations Smile Stamp set, HAPPY EVERYTHING.

Happy Every Thing ~ Hopscotch ~ Herringbone ~ catscrapbooking.comI checked out a YouTube video to learn the technique.  The one I watched used 1/4″ paper strips.  I wanted to use the chevron pattern paper so I made my strips 7/16″.  It was so easy and I love the way it turned out.

Combining Paper Packs

I just love the Close to My Heart color pallet and their fabulous paper packs.  It makes mixing and matching paper packs so easy and so much fun.  I do have a confession in that I have struggled with using multiple patten papers.  This seems to have changed dramatically since becoming a CTMH Consultant – why is this?? Well I strongly believe it is because of the fabulous colors and wonderful designers who create such great patterns.

I have a fun single page layout for you that I designed using Hopscotch and Chalk it up paper packs.

Chalk it up, Hopscotch layout ~ Catscrapbooking.comI am really happy the way this layout turned out.  Here are the supplies I used for this layout:

  • Paper Packs ~ Chalk it up X7184B & Hopscotch X7194B
  • Cardstock ~ White Daisy, Lagoon and Flaxen
  • Emelishments ~ Chalk it Up Assortment Z3009 and Buttons from stash
  • Ribbon~ Black Striped Twill Z1988
  • Punches ~ Scalloped Border Punch Z1851 and notebook punch from stash

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ D

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog hop! ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “D”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “D” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY .  If you just came from DIANA SANDERS Blog then you are in the right place.

Today for my “D” element I have choose DAFFODILS.  I love the new stamp set A Little Note A1171.  You can see it featured on page 23 of the Seasonal Expressions One.  I so love the card displayed on that page.  I have been meaning to design my own cards for some time so this was the perfect excuses.  I actually designed three cards using this stamp set.

A Little Note ~ ABC's D ~ catscrapbooking.com

This one was simple just using Topiary and Canary cardstock to double frame the Daffodils and then putting on Kraft cardstock.  I used the Yellow diamond washi tape on White Daisy cardstock then split it down the center.

Blushed ~ A Little Note ~ ABC's D ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this card I though the Brushed paper pack would coordinate wonderfully with this stamp set.  I used the topiary washi as accent.

Hopscotch ~ A Little Note ~ ABC's D ~catscrapbooking.comThis is my favorite!   I know I have said this so many times but I absolutely love the Hopscotch paper pack and knew it would be great for this card.   I used Glacier to back the stamped White Daisy cardstock with Flaxen Extra Thick Twine to accent the design.

Supplies used for all cards:

  • Paper Packs ~ Hopscotch X7194B, Brushed X7190B
  • Cardstock ~ Glaicer, Canary, Topary, White Daisy and Kraft
  • ShinHan Markers ~ Pastel Green Z2459, Sap Green Z2463, Golden Yellow Z2452, and Maragold Z2457
  • Embellishments ~ Flaxen Extra Thick Twine Z3036. Junebug Puffies Z3038, Honey Triangles Washi Z1931 and Topiary Stripe Washi Z2002

Hopscotch Workshop

I have a special workshop that I am offering to you.  It was designed by a very talented Close to My Heart consultant, Susan Williams.  She has outdone herself with this workshop!! You will complete FOUR two page layout and TWELVE cards!! Wow!  It uses flip flaps, twine, shimmer trim, Hopscotch complements and paper pack.

I have assembled the layouts and have photos below of how I put them together.  The only major change from her designs is how I plan to use the Flip Flaps.   She designed the three of the layouts to use flip-flap which she adheres directly to you layout.  I like to use page protectors so I usually adhere them on the page protector.  So in the following photos you will see my version of her layout and the flip flaps are just placed on the layout and not adhered yet (that is why you see that white strip behind the flip flaps).

Susan Williams Layout #1

Susan Williams Layout # 1

This layout used two flip flaps on the left and three flip flaps on the right.

Susan Williams Layout #2

Susan Williams Layout #2

I had a hard time deciding what to start with as there are so many cool new items which will be great for Valentines, Spring and any time of year for that matter.  I decided on using the Hopscotch paper pack to complete a layout.  I really love this paper pack so be forewarned  as you will be seeing a lot of it from me 🙂
Hopscotch Layout ~ catscrapbooking.com
I wanted to crate a bit of interest between the glacier cardstock base and the blue diamond pattern paper.  I decided to sand the edges but since the core of the paper is white and this paper pack features Colonial White I had to come up with a solution.  I decided to come back over the edges with the Colonial White ink and it really created a neat effect which is hard to see in these photos.

One of the other items I really love are the Hopscotch assortment and the new Junebug Puffies which you an see in this photo.
