Color Dare # 185 ~Cotton Candy, Sweet Leaf, Topiary, Glacier and White Daisy

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #183 we are featuring  COTTON CANDY, SWEET LEAF, TOPIARY, GLACIER and WHITE DAISY.

Dolor Dare #185

I love the double stamp look and since Close to My Heart has quite a few I wanted to play around with one called Someone Special C1607.  These colors were perfect.

Zoe ~ Someone Special ~ Flowers ~ Color Dare 185n~  I cut a frame from the Zoe hounds tooth paper. I used foam to pop it up like a Polaroid photo.  I stamped the flowers in Cotton Candy, the first stamp was second generation and the top was Cotton Candy.  I used Sweet Leaf and Topiary on the leaves but the Topiary is all that really showed.  I stamped the sentiment in White Daisy ink then added White embossing powder.

Life Time of Happiness…OPPS

Do you ever have one of those days when you realize in your attempts to stay on things you really are not at all?  Well I had one of those days.  I have been trying to make the most of my limited craft time these days and with my mom coming to visit.  I had some craft time last week and I grabbed what I though was the November SOTM to make cards for a swap I participate in.   I was so proud of myself as I loved the card I designed and go them all mailed off so they would meet the swap deadline.  Well the next day the package came back to me, the automated mail station did not calculate the correct postage and it needed more.  I though no big deal so I added the needed postage and off it went.  I photographed the card so I could blog about it.  I sat down to prepare my blog which would feature the November stamp of the month and realized I had not used the correct stamp!!!!  I had just reached for a stamp set which was sitting on my desk and instead of confirming it was the one I needed I just got inspired and away I went.

Oh well…. I still really love the way this card turned out.  So it really was not a big deal other than the fact I look like an idiot to the person who organizes the swap and I still needed to create a card for the November Stamp of the Month.  The stamp set I mistakenly grabbed was Lifetime of Happiness C1589.

Lifetime of Happiness ~

I really love this stamp set with all the flowers but my two favorite elements are the beautiful bow and the adorable acorn.  Here is the card I created.

lifetime of happiness ~ Pathfinding ~ catscrapbooking.comI decided I did not want to fussy cut all these elements so I scanned the carrier sheet and imported it into my silhouette.  This enabled me to create cut files for each of the items.

Products used:

  • Paper Pack ~Pathfinding X7186B
  • Cardstock ~ Chocolate, Champagne, Colonial White
  • Stamp Set ~ Lifetime of Happiness C1589
  • Ink ~ Autumn Terricotta, Glacier, Goldrush, Barn Red, Honey, Chocolate and Olive

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ M

ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “M”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “M” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at  LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY

If you came from LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY then you’re on the right track!

For my “M” element I am using a mask to design my own pattern paper.  I have has these Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens since 2010; however, I have never used them until now.  Yes I will admit I am a hoarder of sorts when it comes to scrapbooking supplies.  Isn’t that the way things are done :-).  Well it is the way I do things – I see something cool  so I purchase it, then tuck it away and forget to use it.  Well I recently did a major clean out and found them so I decided it was time to try them out.  So Mask was my primary “M” element but I also used Mirror as I used the mirror image.

I used the Close to My Heart Spray Pins and added some water, Pearl Paint and Sweat Leaf Re-Inker.   I laid the Glimmer Screen on my white cardstock and spritz.  Once I had the desired saturation I laid another piece of white cardstock over the Glimmer Screen and rubbed gently.  This top piece of paper took up the over-spray which was on the Glimmer Screen which resulted in the mirror image of the ink covering the Glimmer Screen.

Masking Technique_4466bIn this photo you see the cardstock I laid on top of the screen on the left, the cardstock which was spritz with the spray pin with the screen in place in the middle ans on the right you can make out the Glimmer screen.

I then added a couple of flowers I cut using my silhouette with the Chantilly paper pack.  For the Sweet Leaf card base I used the lighter patten paper with Blush cardstock and for the Cotton Candy card base I used Cotton candy with the darker pink pattern paper to crate the flowers.  For the center of the flowers I used some brads from Micheal’s but added our Pink Glitter Gems as well as using them for interest on the the card.  The sentiment is from For Every Occasions D1184 which has been retired.

Stampers with Attitude Blog Hop ~ Ariana

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!

The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show our Ariana Artwork with an Attitude, so here we go.  If you just hopped her from  SHEILA BENNETT then you are on the right track.

I know you have seen all the wonderful pop-up box cards that are all over Pinterest and the internet.   They are pretty addictive and I have fallen under their spell.  With Mothers Day just around the corner I thought it would be fun to make a floral pop-up card box.

Mothers day pop-up ~

I know most of the pop-up box cards are designed so they will lay flat to fit into an envelope.   I decided  to change it up and make this one a bit more three dimensional with my choice of flowers using punches.  I read a post on a blog Damask Love  about using punches to make flowers I had bookmarked so I would remember to come back to it.  I was recently reviewing some of my bookmarked/saved blogs and came across this post.  I decided it was time to give it a try.  To make these flowers I used a 2 inch circle punch, fringe scissors and my Cricut to cut the leaves using Artiste cartridge.

Mother’s Day Flower

I was having so much fun with Lollydoodle paper pack, that I decided to go ahead and create a Mother’s Day gift.  I know it is a bit early but the past couple of years I seem to run behind.  I found this adorable flower design and knew it would be prefect with the Lollydoodle paper pack.

It is so cool that the butterfly comes off and it reveals a beautiful flower.

I used my Silhouette with the Lollydoodle paper pack, Pear and Cotton Candy cardstock.  I just purchase a little Easter grass to fill the planter.  What a fun creation!

Mother’s Day Card

Last year I did not pay attention to the fact Mother’s day was right around the corner so I was left scrambling to create my Mother’s day cards.  This year I am a head of the game!!  If you have noticed I have been exploring the different types of special fold cards there are out there.  I picked the cascading card to design for my Mother’s day card as it could resemble a bouquet of flowers.  This card could easily be converted to any occaion card just by changing the sentiment.  You will see in a future post that I changed the sentiment for my May workshop.

mothers day card

For this card I used Kraft cardstock for the base and then used on of my boarder punches to give it the unique detail.  I then cut Lagoon cardstock to fit on each of the panels.  Using the Perfect fit – Mom stamp set I stamped the sentiment in Gypsy.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the flowers and leaves that match up with the flowers and leaves from the Girls Rock stamp set. I then used Gypsy, Buttercup, Pear, Smoothie and Lagoon inks to stamp the flowers.  For one of the smaller flowers I used the Happy Thoughts and for the Mom stamp insert in the larger flower I used the Perfect Fit – Mom stamp set. I also used the April SOTM’s adorable bird and stamped it using a two tone effect.

Once I photographed this card I realized it really needed something else so I went back and added Bitty Opaques and Sparkles.  Notice the difference?  it really completed the card.
