Technique Blog Hop ~ Resisting Can Be Fun

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

12885795_10153498448327934_6111664379251054366_oThis month we are featuring a technique called Resisting!  What is resisting?  Here is a definition I found on the internet “withstand the action or effect of.”  I like to use embossing powder for this technique.  I would usually use a colored embossing power, like white, black, silver, etc.  This time I tried clear embossing powder.   If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from WENDY KESSLER’S Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

So I started with a White Daisy cardstock, then using Versamark I stamped the image.  I then used clear embossing powder.

Embossed Resist ~ Mothers Day Card step 1 ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen I used Glacier, Pixie and Thistle inks and a dauber to apply the ink to the White Daisy cardstock.

Embossing Resist ~ Mother's Day Card step 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comOnce I applied all the ink to change the color of the White Daisy, I then stamped some additional flowers.

Ink Lifting Technique

I am not really sure how I stumbled on this technique but I did.  I was so impressed that knew I wanted to give it a try.  Here is the link to Jennifer McGuire’s blog and the technique.  She uses distressed ink but I though I would give it a try with Close to My Heart inks.

When I first started playing around with the technique I tried our White Daisy cardstock and it did not lift the color out as well.  So I then tried it with our Watercolor paper and BINGO it worked.  So here is how it works.Ink Lifting initial stepsI used Crystal Blue for my background.

Ink Lifting Part 2Once you have the ink applied you use water to lift out the ink.  I just dabbed a water soaked brush to the inside of the flowers.  And as you can see the blue lifts out and becomes a faded blue.  Then I took my ink pad and stamped my all purpose mat.  I then added water to the ink and painted the new colors in.  I used Pixie, Thistle, Honey, Fern and Sweat leaf inks to add color.

Wavey Blooms ~ Ink Lifting ~ Do What Makes You Happy Card 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the finished product.  I am really happy how this turned out and look forward to trying it some more.  I actually tried using craft foam to instead of foam tape to pop up the white scalloped boarders.

Thank You Gift Card Set

Do you follow CTMH on Instagram?  Well a couple of weeks ago they showed a technique of using spray pens to color a Cricut cut sentiment.  Well I loved it and could not wait to try it.  Here are my cards.

Thank you card sets ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this set I used Pear, Lagoon and Smoothie reinkers mixed with rubbing alcohol as it will dry faster than water.  I used the Quatrafoil, Diamond and Dot embossing folders.  I really love this look so simple but the outcome is fabulous.

Thank you gift card sets 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comI designed two sets the second one is with Glacier, Flaxen and Thistle reinkers.  I packaged them in sets of 6, two of each of the embossed cards for a great gift card set.

Technique Blog Hop ~Diffuse Your Artwork

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!12074971_10153184519667934_2043297595245056291_n

This month we are featuring the technique of ~ DIFFUSERS!  Close to My Heart has just released two diffusers which are to be used with our embossing folders.  You can find these new diffusers on  page 122 of the new Annual Inspirations Idea book.  Diffusers are so cool as it will crate a non-embossed area on the paper you want to emboss. I know that sounds confusing but just take a look at the artwork and it will make more sense.  This month we have 6 consultants featuring artwork using this technique.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from PRICILLA GOTHAM ’S Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

Color Dare #147 ~ Monochromatic

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week the Color Dare #147 challenge is Monochromatic and you get to choose the color.

11406844_10153070820969440_7347783854750262705_nI got a little carried away and actually designed three cards each using a different color choice.  For all the cards I embossed white cardstock using the quatrefoil embossing folder Z1926.  Then using some metal dies I have I cut the inserts for each card.   The first one I designed, I chose Lagoon as my color.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess Rewards ~ Color Dare 147 ~ Lagoon Monochromatic ~ catscrapbooking.com

I really like the hostess rewards stamp set Paper Bird so I knew this was the stamp set I wanted to work with.  I stamped the bird twice then cut out the wing and popped it up using thin foam tape.  I used Aqua dots to add a little extra to the card.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess ~Color Dare 147 ~ Thistle monocromatic ~ catscrapbooking.comWith this version I used Thistle as my color and the butterfly as the feature stamp which is also from the Paper Bird Hostess exclusive stamp set.  I added Purple Glitter gems and Thistle ribbon to the card.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess Rewards ~ Color Dare 147 ~ Pixie Monochromatic ~ catscrapbooking.com

For the last one I stayed with the butterfly but changed the color to Pixie.  I used the pink shimmer trim and one of the flowers from the Brushed assortment.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #147.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday June 25, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

10622835_10152753930052934_714937006075703070_n

This month there are 11 consultants featuring the technique ~ EMBOSSING IS BACK!  This technique is featured on page 128 of the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.  Embossing is a great way to add some interest to your projects and a little shimmer.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.  If you are coming from HALEY DYER’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I love the stamp set Smiles Begin with You A1172 and the cover of the My Creations Mini Mix Album shown on pg 17 of the new Seasonal Expressions 2.  So I decided to make a card based on this cover using white embossing powder and black cardstock.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Thistle ~ Technique Hop ~ Embossing ~
I colored the Clear Sparkles with my Peony Purple ShinHan marker to make them puple.  For my next card I then decided I wanted to create one more using Kraft cardstock with the white embossing.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Blossom ~ Embossing ~ Technique Hop ~ #catscrapbooking.comI so love the new Blossom paper pack so it was the perfect choice to use with the Kraft.

Products used for these cards:

  • Papers ~ Blossom Paper Pack X7196B, Glacier Cardstock, Thistle Fundamental Paper, Black Cardstock and Kraft Cardstock
  • Extra Thick Twine ~ Glacier Z3039 and Thistle Z3040
  • Embellishments ~ Coral Reef Sequins Z3042 and Clear Sparkles Z1752

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto DARLYS RECKER’S Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!
