My Layout Challenge #1

With the New Year I am sure everyone is making resolutions which we hope to keep.  I am no different… I made one crafting resolution ~ To design at least one scrapbooking layout a week.  I have a lot of photos printed so this will be great to get through the stack.  So far I am off to a good start.

The first layout I designed was a single page layout of my son’s second encounter with Santa.

Santa Layout ~ White Pines ~ one photo layout ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this layout I used White Pines paper pack and the White Pines complements which just retired 🙁 Here is a close up of the top right corner.

Santa detail ~ White Pines ~ CatScrapbooking.comSince one of the stickers is colonial white and my base page is colonial white I decided to take a brown pen to outline the ornaments and make the string they are hanging from.  I added some bling with the retired Green Glitter paper, the Sparkle Clear Assortment Z1752 and Red Enamel Gems Z3090.

I look forward to sharing more layouts with you each week.

Believe Shadow Box

So one of our fellow Close to My Heart consultants Michelle Snyder, designed this fabulous layout in our Colonial White Shadow Box as a Operation Smile fundraiser.  The response was so overwhelming that she shared her creation with her fellow convention going consultants.  I truly love this layout and will look forward to hanging it every year.

Believe Shadow Box ~ White Pines ~ CatScrapbooking.comIsn’t this just beautiful!  Just remember at the end of this month you will no longer be able to order the White Pines Paper pack.

Everything ABC’S ~ Z

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “Z”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “Z” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from DIANA SAUNDERS’ Blog then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants at the bottom of this post.

The letter “Z” can also be a difficult letter to come up with ideas for there is always the ZipStrips at the top of the Close to My Heart paper.  But I thought I remembered a fancy fold card that started with “Z” so I went to my Pinterest  boards and there it was…..Upright Z Fold card.  So that is what I set out to make. Here is the final product then I will walk you through the steps.

Upright Z Fold front ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.com This is what is looks like from the front. Now let me show you how it was made.Upright Z-fold card Step 1 ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.comStarting with an 11″x 4 1/4″ piece of paper which will be you card base and your final card will be 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ when folded flat. Score along horizontal edge at 2 3/4″ and at 5 1/2″.
Upright Z-fold card Step 2 ~ ABC's Z ~ White Pines ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen you will adhere your pattern paper to the top and bottom of the card.  You can use the same or mix up the paper.  The bottom measurement is 4 ” x 2 1/2″ and the top is 4″x 5 1/4″ (sorry I made a mistake on the text in the photo).Upright Z Fold Step 3 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's ~ CatScrapbooking.comZI cut the Holly Border #m418E9A from the Artisty cartridge cut at 1.01″ high by 3.62″ high.  I cut this three times two Fern and one in Chocolate.  The two fern ones I trimmed the fern looking leaves leaving the holly leaves and balls. In the photo above I am using the cocoa and the first fern cut.Upright Z Fold Step 4 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere I am attaching the second Fern holly but I am only attaching it at the top.  This will allow me to slide the card front between the two Fern cuts and help hold the card in the Upright Z.  I added some gems.Upright Z Fold Step 5 ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbooking.com  I then attached the front panel which is cut at 3 1/4″ x 4″ and the insert which I embossed is cut at 3″ x 3 3/4″.Upright Z Fold side ~ White Pines ~ ABC's Z ~ CatScrapbook.comHere is the side view of the completed card.

Color Dare #171 ~ Cranberry, Pear, Gold and White Daisy

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #171 we are featuring CRANBERRY, PEAR, GOLD & WHITE.

12182759_1666640680289390_217688051216951767_oI knew when I saw these colors I would be doing a Christmas card.  I have been seeing a lot of fabulous cards using the awesome White Pines Scrapbook Workshop on the Go stamp set.  I decided it was time to give it a try.

Color Dare 171 ~ White Pines WOTG Stamp ~ Christmas Card ~ CatScrapbooking.comI used Cranberry, Pear and White Daisy cardstock.  I used the Versamark pad to stamp then used gold embossing powder.  I added a bit of Gold Glitter paper.  I used the Artistry cartridge to cut the shape for the Christmas stamp and the holly leaves.  Both cuts are found on page 48.  I backed the holly leaves using the Green Shimmer trim.  I decided to just use the Red Gems for the holly instead of the cricut cut.  I also used the Confetti Embossing folder for the White Daisy cardstock.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #171  or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday December 10, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Wine Tags part 2

As promised here are the two holiday wine tags I designed.  These would be great to give as gifts to anyone on your list. If you missed my post from Monday be sure to check it out HERE as I feature two other wine tags plus links to the two I designed last year.

Winter Cheer polar bears on Ice burg wine tag ~ catscrapbooking@gmail.comI so love these cute polar bears which are wafer thin dies I got from Top Dog Dies.   I used Glacier cardstock and the Confetti Embossing folder.  I then cam back and sanded the embossed dots to look like snow.  I used our watercolors to add the shadows on the ice burg.  I used our White Glitter paper with the snowflake dies in the set. The “winter cheer” is from a retired stamp set Polar Bear Holiday.  I then added a two of the Enamel and Glitter Duo Dots.

White Pines Deer Wine Tag 1 ~ Miracle of Christmas ~ CatScrapbooking.com White Pines Deer Wine Tag 2 ~ Miracle of Christmas ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor these tags I used White Pines with the Miracle of Christmas stamp set.  I love this deer!  I stamped the deer in Momento ink then used the watercolors.  I then fussy cut the deers.  I did use the retired stamp set Polar Bear Holiday for the sentiment “Winter Cheer”.

I added some sparkle with the glitter paper and a bit of dimension with the Fern twine.  I then added the touch of blue by watercoloring two of the candies. Here is another detail..White Pines Candy Detail 2 ~ Artbooking ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor this project I used the following products:
