My Layout Challenge #5

Are you ready to see another layout??  I have not been as on top of getting layouts done this past two weeks as I was finishing up some Studio J photos.  I am so bummed that Studio J will be going away the end of April or when the current supply of photo paper are depleted.  I use Studio J to print my photos for scrapbooking.  So I will have a large pile of photos to scrapbook!! So I should be able to maintain my goal.  Speaking of here is my layout number #5

Fundamentals Enchantment ~ Cat Tales ~ 4 photo layout ~ CatScrapbooking.comI thought the big ball of yarn was sort of humorous since we were at a large cat zoo.

Film Strip Card ~ Share the Love inside ~ You make me Smile ~ CatScrapbooking.comTo make the card base I used the Film Label from Artistry #M41706E  I took two of them and welded them together then added a score line.  I then used the layer and made it a tad smaller so the card base would show around the edges.  I then made a duplicate and hid the contour lines of the small rectangles on the inside one.  Since this is the Share the Love blog hop, I am going to share with you my design for the card base just click HERE.  I used the Rock-n-roll technique to ink the center camera on White Daisy cardstock.  I first inked in Slate then rolled in Black ink.

Don’t you just love these adorable balloons???? I love them! Here is the card that I came up with.Balloon Animals ~ Jungle card ~ Birthday Card ~ artistry ~ embossed ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor this card I punched three 1 1/2″ circles into a wood grain embossed cardstock.  I used the rock-n-roll technique with a twist on the animals.  The monkey was inked in Desert Sand then rolled in Chocolate.  I then came back with a tissue and removed a bit of the ink on the nose.  I then took a dauber with Champagne and inked the nose.  The giraffe was inked in Saffron and then rolled in Saddle.  The elephant was inked in Whisper then rolled in Slate.  I then took a tissue and removed a little of the ink in the ears, then using the dauber added a little Cotton Candy.  Then each animal was fussy cut.  The leaves are Artistry leaf #m411e88 and leaf border #m418c8f.

La Vie En Rose Valentine’s Day Cards

I was playing around with the adorable La Vie En Rose Complements and all those clear plastic hearts gave me an inspiration.  What if they were falling out of a jar, more specifically the cut jar on the Artistry Cartridge #M40FB6F.

La Vie En Rose ~ Jar of Hearts ~ Love you ~ CatScrapbooking.com I loved this idea so much I decided to make some more hearts with my Explore.  I used the heart from the jar.  I hid the contour lines of the jar, so it only left the heart.  I then used the circle basic shape and sized it larger than the heart.  I centered the heart over the circle and highlighted both.  Then using the slice tool I crated a heart in a circle.  I used the negative heart as well as the circle heart to make this version.

La Vie En Rose Herringbone Card

I really like the La Vie En Rose paper pack as five of the B&T papers are black and white.  So there are so many options with this paper.  I have to admit that the black and white with reds really pop.  I decided to use the black and white patterns to make a herringbone design. Here is my card.

La Vie En Rose ~ Herringbone ~ Fundamentals Assortment ~ CatScrapbooking.comThe strips are are 1/2 inch in width. I started with the polk-a-dot which is in the “middle” running left to right.  I then added polk-a-dot strips which run up and down.  Then started adding the other strips.  For the sentiment I used one of the Artistry stamp Love Right Now, but instead of cutting the oval at the recommended 1.75″ I cut it at 1.95″.

Technique Blog Hop – Bokeh Stamping

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

12375999_10153309114907934_8934746437459467447_nThis month we are featuring the Bokeh Technique!  Have you seen those awesome backgrounds with the white circles which crates an out of focus look.  It is hard to describe this technique but with photographs “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”.  It has been adapted to crafting and this month we have 6 consultants featuring artwork using this technique.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from MELISSA ROBINSON ’S Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

I really love this technique and have used it a number of times.  I decided to show you the Bokeh technique with a twist ~ Paw prints.  The first thing I did is I went into Design Space and using the Heart Paw Print #m4130AD from the Artistry cartridge.  I hid the contour lines of heart leaving just the paw print.  I copied the image so there were 4 which were all different sizes.  Then creating a 4″ square I used my slice tool and created my own stencil.

Mask for Bokeh Technique ~ Pawprints ~ Artistry ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen using approximately 5.25″x 4″ pieces of White daisy I applied ink using a dubber in a random pattern.

Bokeh Technique ink application ~ CatScrapbooking.comWith the first piece I used Pixie, Hollyhock and Ruby.  I used a dauber to apply the color randomly.  Bokeh technique ink application ~ Techniques ~ CatScrapbooking.comWith this one I used Pixie, Canary and Glacier again using the dauber to apply the ink.  The next step is to apply the white ink to create the Bokeh technique.  I have a stencil with various sized circles so I started with that.  I then came back with the Paw Print Stencil to create these:Bokeh Technique with pawprints ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen I trimmed the cardstock to the appropriate sizes in this case 5″ x 3 3/4″.   I then added a sentiment and the adorable dog from Love My Dog A1178Bokeh ~ Ruby, Pixie & Hollyhock pawprints ~ Love my Dog ~ CatScrapbooking.comBokeh ~ Canary, Pixie & Glacier pawprints ~ Love my Dog ~ CatScrapbooking.comI did learn something that I wanted to share with you.  If you plan to stamp on the Bokeh pattern it does not work very well after the fact.  The white pigment ink shows through whether you us pigment or ink.  So my suggestion is emboss first then do the Bokeh technique.  To fix this I used black and silver heat embossed dogs which I fussy cut and covered my “mistake”.  It was a learning experience which is always cool but frustrating at times.  Like they day there are no mistakes in crafting only creative ways to fix :-).

I decided to design my card after seeing this one on Pinterest.   I love designing my own designs in Design Space.  For this card I used hearts from Artbooking, Artistry and Art Philosophy.

La Vie En Rose ~ Beloved Bouquet ~ Hearts ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the inside of the card ~

La Vie En Rose ~ Beloved Bouquet ~ Hearts ~ Valentine's ~ CatScrapbooking.comSo to make the card base I used the three different hearts then welded them to a rectangle so I created the heart edge.  Before I welded everything I made a copy of the grouped hearts so I could cut the individual hearts to add to the base.  I really love the way this turned out.
