So for my “Y” I chose Yuletide which is an archaic term for Christmas. So I went with a Christmas card.  I have been wanting to use the Wreath Thin Cut so I thought this would be the prefect opportunity.

abcs-y-yuletide-wreath-christmas-cheer-catscrapbooking-comI wanted the wreath to pop a bit more so I tried rolling the stamp in Fern and New England Ivy before I stamped it.  It looked good but I wanted more color so I decided to color my leaves!

Now it is time to hop on over to JENIFER BENNER’S BLOG and see what she has created for you today.

The letter “X” is especially challenging when you are trying to thing of how it can relate to crafting so I am going to stretch it a bit.  I have been working on items for the craft fair I am participating in which is today ~ EEK.  I have been so busy preparing and hoping things will sell well as this is the first time I have done one.  Anyway, I have been working on holiday goodies and since Christmas is some times shortened to X-Mas, I am going to go with that as my “X” element.  Along with the eXcitement that has been building for this Craft Fair.  Now for my project:Animal Greetings ~ Holiday Treat Topper ~ Cat

I so love those cute little critters on the Operation Smile Stamp Set Animal Greeting D1679.  Not only is the stamp set just adorable with every stamp set sold CTMH will donate $7 to Operation Smile!!!  I wanted to make them festive for the holidays so I cut little Santa hats for them.  I did this using a SVG file with my Silhouette.  I used Momento ink to stamp the moose, raccoon and bear on the watercolor paper circles.  Then I used the watercolors to color them.  I found these 1X8″ plastic sleeves which I filled with M&M’s and tied them on using some ribbon.  I just think they are adorable and hope the shoppers do too.

Now it is time to hop on over to DONNA LONG’S Blog and see what she has created for you today.

Cut Above ~ Christmas

Don’t panic just because I mentioned the word Christmas…. You still have plenty of time before Christmas is here.  Although we may start seeing decorations in the stores soon, as they keep bring them out earlier and earlier each year.  Do you enjoy making your own Christmas cards or have wanted to but felt you don’t have enough time; well then you will want to check out the new Cut Above kits.  The Cut Above Kit takes all the hard work away, they are the perfect solution!!!

Close to My Heart came out with these new Cut Above Kits which totally rock.  Each kit comes with all the papers you will need to make your cards -PRE-CUT!!! You do not have to cut anything except the bakers twine :-).  You will need some adhesive, ink and a stamp set but the rest is supplied with the kit.  Take a look at the contents of the Cut Above Christmas.

Cut Above kit webAs you can see you get the cards, envelopes, embellishments and even foam squares!  This kit will make 10 cards.  You can purchase as many as needed to check all those friends and family members off your list.  There is even enough bakers twine to actually do a double  loop around the glitter paper instead of the single as shown on the kit cover.  I purchased the Merriest Christmas B1468 Stamp Set which coordinates perfectly with this card.  Take a look…

Christmas Cut Above cards

What really makes this kit so wonderful is in the past you purchase the stamp set with the papers so if you want to make more cards you did not want to have to purchase the stamp set a second time, but not any more!  One other thing I wanted to mention is the assemble time for these cards is literally is minutes.   Be sure to check out all the Cut Above kits and find the one that is right for you.

Christmas Card Holder

If you are like me I have struggled on what to do with all the Christmas cards we get.  I don’t like to just toss them in a pile.  I really want to enjoy them and show them off.   I have tried to create a wreath in years past with clothes pins but they would pop off and you could not see all the cards.  So I decided to design my own.  I found the Noel at Hobby Lobby which I figured work great.  I added ribbon to use as the streamers for to run the cards along.  I then painted the clothes pins red and green.  Here is how is is taking shape with some of the cards.

Unfortunately the place I chose to hang this is in a hall and there is not a lot of room to get the photo.  I think you get the idea.

Christmas Wrapping

I decided we would assist Santa Claus in being more environmentally friendly.  Since we are establishing our family traditions with our son, we decided one of the things we would try to do is cut back on the wrapping paper used.  To do this we would provide Santa Clause with some Christmas sacks and a few Christmas sheets to help him wrap the more cumbersome gifts.  So I dusted off my sewing machine and got to sewing.  I purchased several yard of festive fabric and some ribbon to make these items. Here is the finished product.Christmas Sacks-1

No I am not really that far ahead that Santa has already arrived.   I used some of Gavin’s existing toys to demo how the new sacks and sheets would work.  I am actually very excited about this and if needed next year I will make some more.  The sacks are really very simple it is basically a yard of fabric sewn together.  The tutorial I found wanted you to use elastic and 2 1/2 inch ribbon.  When I went shopping for that I could not find the ribbon in that width.  So I improvised.  I used ribbon which was one inch and sewed it onto the back of the sack.  Then allowed for enough ribbon to tie a bow with some long tails.

Here is a close up of one of the sacks.  I am actually really excited about this idea and will probably make more next year.  Maybe we will go to having all our gifts in sacks.

Happy Holidays and happy crafting!

Christmas Cheer

I always have great intentions of completing lots of projects every year for the holidays and last year was no exception.  I purchased this set of Christmas blocks, unfortunately I don’t remember where.  I soon realized time was going by too fast and I would not get the project completed for Christmas 2012.  This year I was determine to get the blocks completed.  These blocks were natural wood when I purchased them.  I painted them red and green.  Then I used Mod Podge over the paper and blocks which produced the glossy sheen.  I then used embellishments to add a bit of interest to the blocks.

Christmas Decorations

I have been very busy making Christmas cards, gifts and decorations.  It has been a lot of fun and I have actually completed more than I thought I would.  I will share some of the the things with you over the next few posts.

These Santa cones were something I stumbled on when going through Craft Warehouse.  I thought they were so adorable and knew I needed to complete some for myself.  The cones are spay painted with a red glitter spray paint, Glitter Blast by Krylon.  The trim is a feather trim and the belt is black ribbon with CTMH glitter paper cut on my Silhouette in a belt shape.

Stay tuned for more holiday decorations….

Redneck Christmas

A friend of mine asked me to design a Christmas card for them.  They wanted to do a redneck Christmas theme this year since they were hosting Christmas for the family.  She asked me for assistance on the card design.  She said she was thinking lights, trailer and antlers…. Here is what I came up with.

Redneck Christmas

I used my Silhouette to cut all the shapes – the trailer, antlers and lights.  The snow is actually liquid applique which added a nice touch.  She was thrilled with the design now I can’t wait to here how it goes.
