Magically Masked Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 11 of us highlighting the masking technique.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from DEBI MCBAINS BLOG, you are on the right track!

Masking can be done in a number of ways.  If you are using a stamp sets you cover up part of a stamp image with tape or paper and stamp only the part you want to show. I decided to make a Cricut cut to use as a mask. Here is the finished product and then I will show you how I created the fire works.

I used this fireworks overlay to make the mask.  I could not get the dimensions to fit a standard card without distorting the image.  So it was cut at 4.5″ x 6.8″ and I added a strip of paper to make it have the little border on all sides.

I then used a sponge to ink the fireworks in Sapphire and Pomegranate.

When you remove the mask it look like this.

I then turned it to the side and added the sentiment which comes from the Central Park Scrapbooking stamp set. I used second generation stamping to get the lighter background behind Summer. I then added a little liquid glass to the stars to they would pop.

Color Dare 301 ~ Poppy, Lemon and Willow

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #301 we are challenging you to use (All and Only) these CTMH Colors: POPPY, LEMON, and WILLOW.  You are able to use neutrals – Black and White in your design.

For this challenge I decided to use the Central Park Scrapbooking Stamp Set.

I first inked the stamp set in Lemon and then rolled the top in Willow and the bottom of the image in Poppy.  I then inked it a second time in Black ink and cut out the “reason” I then used a watercolor brush to pick up a bit of the Willow ink from the top of the stamp pad to color in the “reason”.  I used one of the pattern papers for the Central Park pack and created my own pattern paper by random stamping the solid circle from the Central Park Scrapbooking Stamp Set in Willow on Willow.  I then used a couple of the Central Park sequins and White Glitter paper for a bit of pop.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #301 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday July 26, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Mini is Marvelous Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 11 of us highlighting mini albums or really anything crafty that is mini.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

I really wanted to create one of the new Stories by Stacy albums and plan to make it for my husband for father’s day, but unfortunately life has been a bit busy.  I will still crate this album but it will be in a little later this summer.  Fortunately I had been working on a mini album so I decided to focus on it.  If you are coming from DEBI MCBAINS BLOG, you are on the right track!

I crated one of these albums for my son after his first year of Pre-K as I did not just want to give him a big box of papers.  You can check out my first on HERE to see how it will be bound. I will plan to take it to Office Depot/Max and have them add the binding.  The size of the book is 9×6 inches.

This is the cover using the Central Park papers.  I really love this pattern paper as it is so cheerful.  The inch worm ruler is a SVG file that I have with my Silhouette.  I used White Daisy, Charcoal and Willow.  I matted the photo with Glacier.

The inside cover is using the revers of the paper and his class photo.  I also saved one of his name tags to add to the album.

The PreK he went to used the Tools of the Mind program so every day they created a play plan which will go in this section which was him drawing a picture of what he was going to do and eventually starting to write what he planned to do. This was the divider tab for his play plans.

I made a divider for each of the different types of papers and artwork that went home.  I used all CTMH cardstock focusing on Willow, Poppy, Canary, Pacifica and Glacier.  Instead of using the actual art work I actually took photos of them, then had the photos printed and added.  This makes the whole book much more compact and a great memory book.   I am planning on dropping it off to get bound this week!! Now on to Junior Kindergarten….

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork highlighting the awesome patterns Close to My Heart Offers!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!
