For my letter “P” I am featuring two PAPER PACKS ~ Blossom and Brushed and my PHOTOS are from Sky PRAIRIE PARK.  I also could not resist giving you a PEAK at the new Close to My Heart Artistry cartridge.  I have really enjoyed mixing up the paper packs and for this layout it was no different.

ABC's P layout ~ Blossom ~ Brushed ~ Artistry ~ catscrapbooking.com

I used several cuts from the new Artistry cartridge.   The banners up in the top left corner can be found on page 30 (cut at 1.54″ high and 1.79″ high).  The medallions behind the monkeys is the banner found on page 3 (cut at 2.34″ high).  The Glacier circle is cut at 2″.

ABC's P detail ~ Blossom ~ Brushed ~ Artistry ~ CatScrapbooking.comI used the Artistry font which is Hopscotch Alphabet.  I did weld and stretch the alphabet to get it the way I wanted it.  I cut it twice once in Kraft and once in Lagoon. The monkeys are found on page 24 (2″ and 1.14″ high).  I used my journaling pen to make the nose and mouths.  I used my black Shin Han marker to color the Bitty Sparkles for the eyes on the three larger monkeys.
Here is the full list of supplies used:

  • Paper Packs: Blossom X7196B and Brushed X7190B
  • Cardstock: Kraft, Glacier, Sunset, Lagoon and White Daisy
  • Jounaling Pen Z1979
  • Artistry Cricut Collection Z3167

I was looking through CardMaker’s magazine ~ their Beautiful Blooms edition. I stumbled on a fancy fold technique called Kusudma Flower and was intrigued.  I decided I wanted to give it a go. It was fun to do and I have the steps on creating this flower below.  Here is how it turned out:

Kusudama Flower ~ Blossom ~ Taste of Summer #ctmhtos ~ catscrapbooking.com1d7f8566-fc70-4f67-971c-36c9be4e878a

I did not add a sentiment to this card as I was not sure what occasion I wanted to use it for.  Since the flowers are quite 3D it is not the easiest card to mail.  So I figured I would wait for the right occasion that it could go in a package or be hand delivered and it would only take a minute to add.  I used the blossom paper with some teal shimmer trim and Blue & Green Epoxy Bubbles.  The stamp set is the Taste of Summer special stamp set that is only available this month.

1d7f8566-fc70-4f67-971c-36c9be4e878aNow hear is how to make those fun flowers.  The larger flower I used 2″ x 2″ squares and for the smaller two flowers I used 1 1/2″ by 1 1/2″

Kusudama Flower Petal ~ fancy fold ~ catscrapbooking.comI did forget on last step and that is to trim the point  which I am holding in the photo off.  This will allow you to have a flat surface to adhere to your project.  Also hot glue was really the only thing that would hold these petal together.

Blossom Explosion Box

I have something special to share with you today.  I have been wanting to do one of those cool explosion boxes I have been seeing and I was needing a special anniversary card for my husband to celebrate our 15 year anniversary which is today.  I thought the explosion box would work well as I could find a photo from the year we met which was 1996 and go all the way to this year this would give me 20 photos ~ prefect.

Well the concept worked great in my head and I was able to assemble the box pretty quickly.  But when it came time to pull the photos, this is where things got interesting.   I realized that just 15 years ago I was still using a film camera and not digital and most of my original photographs are on film and not on a CD. The good news was they were in albums so I could just scan the photo and then reprint. This worked well as the oldest photos would be my smallest.  I had archived most of my photos to CD as there are so many and I don’t need every photograph from the past on my laptop.  When I went to pull them on to computer I realized that with my new laptop I didn’t have a disc drive so I would have to order one to complete this project.  The past 5 years was the easy part as those photos are readily accessible.

Well enough about my struggles with collecting my photos.  I used Studio J to print my photos using the express collection photo wells.  If you want to learn how to do this check out this blog post. Here is how the box turned out.  I have not been able to give it to my husband yet as for the second year in a row he has been out of town, but he will be home late tonight and will see it then.

Explosion Box ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comThe flowers an leaves are cut using my Cricut.  The flowers came from the Artiste cartridge and the leaves came from Artbooking.  I used my triangle punch to make the band around the box and backed it in the teal shimmer trim.

Explosion Box top~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comI really love the Lagoon heart washi tape and it worked perfectly as a pattern paper to back my sentiment.  The washi tape was put on White Daisy cardstock, I did have to line up a row as I needed it to be about 1 1/4 inch in width and the tape is only 1″ wide.  The sentiment is from The Happy Couple D1539.

Explosion Box open ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comHere is what it looks like when it is open.  I used Aqua Dots, Oceanside and Coral Reef sequins to add a little extra to each flap.  The outer most layer the panels are 4″ squares.  The middle layer is 3 3/4″ square and the inner panel is 3 1/2 ” square.

Explosion Box inside 1 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comYes the year 2000 was when we were married so I added the hearts.

Explosion Box inside 2 ~ Blossom ~ Anniversary ~catscrapbooking.comIt was really fun putting this together after I was able to over come the obstacles trying to locate photos 🙂

10622835_10152753930052934_714937006075703070_n

This month there are 11 consultants featuring the technique ~ EMBOSSING IS BACK!  This technique is featured on page 128 of the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.  Embossing is a great way to add some interest to your projects and a little shimmer.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.  If you are coming from HALEY DYER’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I love the stamp set Smiles Begin with You A1172 and the cover of the My Creations Mini Mix Album shown on pg 17 of the new Seasonal Expressions 2.  So I decided to make a card based on this cover using white embossing powder and black cardstock.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Thistle ~ Technique Hop ~ Embossing ~
I colored the Clear Sparkles with my Peony Purple ShinHan marker to make them puple.  For my next card I then decided I wanted to create one more using Kraft cardstock with the white embossing.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Blossom ~ Embossing ~ Technique Hop ~ #catscrapbooking.comI so love the new Blossom paper pack so it was the perfect choice to use with the Kraft.

Products used for these cards:

  • Papers ~ Blossom Paper Pack X7196B, Glacier Cardstock, Thistle Fundamental Paper, Black Cardstock and Kraft Cardstock
  • Extra Thick Twine ~ Glacier Z3039 and Thistle Z3040
  • Embellishments ~ Coral Reef Sequins Z3042 and Clear Sparkles Z1752

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto DARLYS RECKER’S Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

I know this time of year everyone gets so excited when warmer weather rolls around.  Particularly in some areas where this winter has been a rough one.   We have been having some really beautiful weather particularly on our weekends.  I have fallen in love (head over heals) with the new Blossom Paper Pack which is featured in the Seasonal Expressions 2 which was just released.  I have already created 5 layouts using this AWESOME paper pack (which you can find here & here).  I decided to create yet another, this time for my Shadow Box which I use to showcase the seasons.  I needed one for spring.  I knew with this past weekend being Easter I knew we would have an opportunity to take a family photo which I would feature in this layout.

Spring ~ Shadow Box ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ catscrapbooking.com I have really been loving the Wavy Blooms stamp set and so it was perfect for this layout.  I used a blender pen to crate the soft colors on the flowers.

Spring ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Cricut to make several of the cuts for this layout.  The circle is a design from my cricut subscription.  The large Pear banner and the “Spring” are from the Artiste cartridge.

Here is a list of supplies used for this project.

I had been struggling with a layout for these photos of my son for quite some time.  Then I saw the Blossom paper pack and knew it was the perfect paper.  I found a sketch that was the base of my inspiration but ended up changing it quite a bit in the end.  Over all I am pleased the way this layout turned out and I love the Stamp “Smiles Begin with You” and it was so fitting for this layout.

Blossom ~ Dream Big~ Butterflies ~ Smiles begin with you ~ catscrapbooking.comSince this was a professional photo shot I thought it would be fitting to add the camera charm which is from the Craft Queen Base & Bling Charms.

Blossom ~ Dream Big ~ butterflies ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this layout fussy cut all the butterflies from the “Your Own Kind of Wonderful” and the tag is from Artbooking page 39.  To create the tone on tone look for the butterflies I stamped the base color in second generation ink and then the full color for the top layer.

Blossom Workshop

Well even though today is April Fools this is definitely not a joke!!  Today is the day Close to My Heart is launching its second Seasonal Expression Idea Book.

1504-se-coverJust like its predecessor it is chalked full of wonderful goodness.  You are going to just fall in love!! I love both of the paper packs featured in this idea book . Jackson is total outdoor and boy themed and then there is Blossom.  Don’t let the name fool you…. It does have flowers but being that I scrapbook mostly about boys (I know I should do more for myself but it is not as much fun) I am still in love with this paper pack as it features blues, greens and orange! These colors are prefect for a boys and girls.
