Color Dare #259 ~ Emerald, Goldrush, Pansy, Black, White with Optional Gold

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week for Color Dare #259 we are challenging you to combine  EMERALD, GOLDRUSH, PANSY, BLACK, WHITE DAISY, with the Option to add GOLD.

Happy 1st of September!! We are making a couple of changes to our challenges starting this week!! We are sure you will love it!!  Color Dare #259 will be active from the 1st to 14th, and the next Color Dare #260 will go active on the 8th to 21st, etc. There will be two challenges running at all times. The two current challenges will be available on the sidebar of the Color Dare Blog.
This extension gives you more time and flexibility to create and hopefully invite more participants for Color Dare – but please don’t wait for the closing date to submit your entry. Winners will be announced at the close of each challenge. The winners for #259 will be announced the Monday following the 14th, and each week thereafter.
You may have noticed the new color palette layout. This was designed for better clarification of the colors. CTMH cardstock has the actual color on one side and the other side is a lighter variance of the same color.
This new palette photo will make it easier for comparison for matching colors if you don’t have CTMH Colors. Plus…the variance of the same color gives you a fair range for substituting similar colors so you can still join in all the fun.
The rules will remain the same (All and Only) the featured colors in our Challenge, neutrals will be specified and some colors optional.
Here is my creation this week:
I wanted to use this adorable frog which comes from Technique Tuesday and is part of their Animal House series ~ Felix the Frog
Here is the inside of the card:

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #259 or you can post them to the COLOR MY HEART FaceBook page.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday September 14, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Happy Crafting!

I do really love Kaliedoscope, it is such a fun, bright and colorful paper pack!  Have you seen the Card Workshop on the Go for this paper pack?  LOVE IT!!  So perfect for making birthday cards and don’t we all always need birthday cards?   I know I do!!!  I have to admit I love the card designs but with all the pink and having two boys in the house that I need to make some a bit more boyish.  So what I wanted to show you that with just a couple minor changes you can make both boy and girl birthday card.

Kaleidoscope Card Workshop Card 1 ~ Catscrapbooking.comWith the first card I changed the cut of the B&T from 5 1/2 X 4 1/2″ to 5 1/4 X 4″.  I switched the gems for Enamel & Glitter Duo Blue Dots and pulled a bit of Chrystal Blue paper and ink.

Kaliedoscope Card Workshop Card 2 ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor this card the only change is switching Pixie for Crystal Blue and changing the gems to Enamel & Glitter Duos Blue Dots.

Kaliedoscope Card Workshop Card 3 ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor the third card it is switching the cardstock to Crystal blue, along with the ink and changing to the Enamel & Glitter Duo Blue Dots.

Now it is time to hop on over to the SHEILA BENNETT ’S Blog  and see what wonderful creation she has for you.  Here is the full list of participants:

Mustache Birthday Card

I wanted to share a really simple but fun birthday card that I designed for my cousin’s daughter.  I knew she loved mustaches and even carved a pumpkin with a mustache so I though it would be fun to use the Artfully Sent sleeve cards found on page 40.  Here is how it turned out ~

Mustache Birthday Card ~ Artfully Sent ~ CatScrapbooking.com

Isn’t this fun?  It just makes me smile and it took no time to make it.  It was on cut on my cricut, then grabbed some scraps of cardstock to put behind the mustache cuts and then cut one more Cotton Candy rectangle to go on the inside of the card front so the scraps don’t show.  I then stamped Happy Birthday and I was done.  Seriously this card took me like 15 minutes and that included addressing the envelope 😉

Everything ABC’s Blog Hop ~ U

Welcome to the Everything ABC Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog HopFor this hop we will be featuring the letter “U”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “U” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from DARLYS RECKER’S Blog then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

Since the letter “U” is sort of elusive as far as incorporating into crafting.  So I decided to look to my cricut keys and USE the images found on the page with the “U” from the Artistry cartridge.  On page 17 is the “U” key and it has a great birthday cuts.

ABC's U ~ Artistry ~ Happy Birthday ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the list of supplies used to create this card and if you have the Artistry Cartridge and an Explore HERE is the link with the sizes.

Now it is time to hop on over to LAUREN MOORE’S Blog and see what she has created for you today.

Fireman Birthday Party

My son’s fourth birthday party was a huge success!!! It could not have worked our any better than it did, and most importantly he LOVED it.   He had about 11 friends plus a few siblings and the Arvada Fire Station number 7 send over a pumper engine so when the kids arrived they were greeted by three awesome fire fighters!!! I created a few games which I saw on Pinterest and my son even helped with them.

First game was Flame Bean Bag Toss:

Bean Bag Flame Toss ~ Fireman Birthday ~ catscrapbooking.com

To make this game I used a 20″X30″ sheet of foam core board. Cut three circles then painted with acrylic paint.  I made the bean bags with some gingham fabric and filled with small white beans.

Fire Hydrant Ring Toss ~ Fireman Birthday ~ Catscrapbooking.comI created the fire hydrant ring toss by taking a large oatmeal container as the main base.  The top is a bowl I purchased as a set at the dollar store.  The two arms are toilet paper rolls which were cut in half.  the fronts are spools from ribbons with bottle tops from waters.  The top of the fire hydrant is a spool on the right and a top to a vitamin container on left. I then spay painted the whole thing in red. I used foam insulation from the hardware store to make the rings.Fire Truck Races ~ Fireman Birthday ~ CatScrapbooking.comI created two fire trucks from boxes I picked up at Costco.  The only issue was I had to close in one of the sides.  I then spray painted them red.  The tires and head lights are plates. The siren lights are cups.  The ladder and windshield are poster board.  I used a bit of ribbon to work as a strap enabling them to wear the fire trucks.Fire Truck ~ Fireman Birthday ~ CatScrapbooking.com

Here is the birthday boy having fun playing in the fire truck.

Fire Truck Birthday Cake ~ Fireman Birthday ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the cake I created based off a Betty Crocker tutorial.  I also made cupcakes and swirled the frosting in yellow, orange and red to look like flames.

Fireman Thank you gifts ~ catscrapbooking.com

These were the treat bags for the kids. The fire fighter tag was cut using a SVG with my Silhouette.  I designed two last cards to go along with this party one was for my son on his birthday and the others are thank you cards for all the gifts.

Masculine Birthday ~ Freshly Made Sketch #198

So I missed last weeks Freshly Made Sketch so I was determined to make it work out this week.  I needed to create a birthday card for a friend of ours birthday so this was the perfect opportunity.  Here is my take on the Freshly Made Sketch #198.

Masculine Birthday Card ~ FMS198 ~ catscrapbookingHere is what the inside looks like:

Masculine Birthday Card inside ~ FMS198 ~ catscrapbooking.comI know our friend likes the classic cars so I thought using Maximum Power D1564 would be perfect for this card. I used Outdoor Denim, Slate and White Daisy for the colors.  I used Outdoor Denim Pigment ink.  The happy birthday is from Joyful Birthdays B1419.  I did change the orientation of the sketch but it is still based off this design.

FMS198Now that I have successfully gotten my first sketch linked in time 🙂 I hope to be able to continue to play along.

Artfully Sent Blog Hop

Welcome to the Artfully Sent Blob Hop!!
Artfully+Sent+500
Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop.  Today we are featuring the new Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge ~ Artfully Sent.  This is an awesome cartridge which will help you create fabulous cards which can pop-up, pocket or create scenes just to name a few.  But wait that is not all…. If you love Picture My Life you can now create your own inserts.
If you are coming here from DONNA DIGBY‘ Blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have over 40 consultants participating so you are going to see some fabulous artwork.
My father’s 75th birthday is today so I wanted to design a fun card for the occasion.  I chose one of the Pop-Up cards on page 40 the “You’re a classic”.  I prefer cards to be the A2 size(4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″) and most of the cards with the cartridge are recommended to be at the 5″ x 7″ size.  So to resize the card to the A2 I designed the layers in CCR.  I started with the base and sized it so the width was 5.5″.  I then just added the additional layers and using the lower right corner of the image once in CCR, I resized each layer so it worked with my base.Page 40 ~ catscrapbooking.com
Since I was designing a birthday card I needed a birthday sentiment.  So I found the one on page 27.  Using the same method of sizing, I was able to scale this to the appropriate size for the outside of the card.
Page 27 ~ Catscrapbooking.com
Here is the finished design.  I added a little extra to the car by using a grey pen to create fenders and accent the center of the wheels.  I chose the Yuletide Carol paper to work with as it has a classic feel and complemented it with the New England Ivy.

  • Paper Packs ~ Yuletide Carol & Enchanted Fundamentals (New England Ivy)
  • Cardstock ~ Black, New England Ivy, Whisper and Champagne
  • Embellishments ~ Black Twill Ribbon, Scardy Cat Assortment for the black stars, and brads from my stash

Color Dare #114

Welcome to Color My Heart’s Color Dare #114!!  This week we are featuring Goldrush, Honey, Crystal Blue and Pacifica.

Color Dare #114

These colors remind my of my son so I was thinking more along the lines of a boy theme.  Then with the release of the new Artfully Sent cartridge I though it would be perfect for this challenge.

Artfully Sent Color Dare 114The base was done with Pacifica. I cut two so I could back the robot making a sandwich so to speak to glue the added paper pieces. I used sequins for eyes and a piece of a Slate Twist Tie for the mouth.

Here is the complete list of supplies used:

  • Cardstock ~ Pacifica, Crystal Blue, Goldrush, Honey and Daisy White
  • Emelishments ~ Silver Sequins
  • Cricut Cartridge ~ Artfully Sent
  • Washi Tape ~ Honey Triganles and Gray polka-dot (retired)
  • Ribbon ~ from my stash

Be sure to play a long with us this week and link your creation on Color My Heart.
