Color Dare #110

Well I did it!  I was able to get my craft room set up so I could create my first project as a member of the Color Dare Design Team.  I am planning on posting photos of my new craft room set up this weekend.  I was not sure I was going to be able to pull this off but I was able to get it done today.  So with our further adieu here is this weeks Color Challenge #110.

Color Dare #110 Colors

These colors are very fall like to me and I am so happy to have the cooler temperatures.  As I have mentioned before Fall is one of my favorite times of the year.  I have to admit I am a bit surprised to hear as I write this blog for tomorrow, that we may be waking to our first snow flurries …. Really???? Wow – I do like snow but I guess I am a bit shocked it will be arriving so early it is only mid September.  Anyway here is my fall inspired thanks card.

I absolutely love these pinwheels! There are so many wonderful things you could do with them. I decided to create a card using the pinwheels.

May Pinwheels - Celebrate_0019_edited-1

When I was deciding on papers my mind immediate went to red and blue for colors.  I have also seen a lot of cool layouts using the wood grain paper from the Dakota paper pack.  So I know my color choices – Barn Red, Pacifica, Whisper and Dakota.  Using my Silhouette I cut the pinwheels and sentiment frame.  I used bakers twine to wrap the sticks to add dimension to the  card.

Here is a list of supplies used:

  • Dakota Paper pack  X7157B
  • Grey wool Bakers twine  Z1701
  • Pewter brads Z1366
  • Pinwheels Stamp Set S1305
  • Barn Red Stamp pad Z2104
  • Pacifica Stamp pad Z2192

Your next stop on our “Pinwheel” hop is Lucy’s blog – Love 2 Create.  Which will mean you have made the full circle – we hope you have enjoyed all the art work and are inspired to create something wonderful.

Side Step Card

There are so many really neat cards designs out there.  I recently stumbled on the side step card design and knew I needed to try one. So with my husbands birthday coming (actually to day), I figure this would be the perfect opportunity.  Here is my interpretation of the side step card.

Mike's Birthday Card 13 - Version 2

I thought this type of card would be something my husband could put on his desk.  So I wanted to make sure to include a photo.  The original side step card design I saw started with an 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2 ” base but I wanted it to be a bit bigger.  So I redesigned it using an 11″ x 7 ‘ base, that way it would accommodate a 3″ x 4″ photo. The base is outdoor denim card stock by CTMH. I then used Basic Grey – Oliver collection for the pattern paper and embellishments.  I did use an aqua blue and deep red card stock which matches the Oliver collection.  I used my Silhouette to cut out the large gear. Then using CTMH Perfect Fit Birthday stamp set, I slightly curved the stamps and used Barn Red CTMH ink. I wanted to be able to put a note to wish a happy birthday so I made a pocket to accommodate a tag using Daisy white card stock.

November Blog Hop

Welcome to the Roxybonds Scrappers Team Blog Hop!

This month we are featuring the paper from the Dakota Paper Packet.

If you have come here from Stephanie Feist, then you are on the right path.  Your next stop will be Jen Patrick.

I really like this Dakota paper the first thing that came to mind was it was very boyish with all the blues. However, the more I started looking at it it is more rugged but since I am more of a tom boy at heart it could be used for a lot of different layouts.  I happen to have one we were on vacation with my nephews and we stopped to take photos and feed one of the horses.

For this layout I used the Wrangler Assortment and the grey wool bakers twine for accents.  I used the Barn Red, Pacifica, Whisper and black card stock  The “horsing around” was cut using my Cameo. I will offer this page as a page kit. The page kit will not include the Wrangler Assortment or the Bakers twine, but it will have the tittle cut out for you $7

I also made a second layout with the Dakota Paper. For this layout I used Whisper, Pacific, and Barn Red card stock. I also used the stamp set Rugged Dude as I love the denim pocket. I used Pacific and black ink.  For accents I used the Wrangler Assortment and the tiny black sparkles to make the rivets pop on the page. I am offering this layout as a page kit (it does not include the Wrangler Assortment, the tiny black sparkles or the tittle letters) the stamping will be done for you and the cost is $8

Now hop on over to Jen Patrick and check out her wonderful designs.
