Christmas Cards using Picture My Life

I mentioned in a prior post that I decided to make all my Christmas cards.  Yes, I realize this is a large undertaking particularly since it means about 100 cards (this includes my husbands work cards too).   I had great intentions to start these earlier but you know how that goes with a three year old who gave up naps.  I wanted to make a variety of cards and I did use the wonderful Cut Above to help make a dent in the number of cards, but I still had quite a few more to make.  So I decided I would use the Picture My Life card particularly the Pear and Partridge and turn them into cards.   Now with the new option of ordering the PML cards A La Carte it make it even easier; you get 44 – 4″ × 6″ Cards (2 each of 22 designs) and 78 – 3″ × 4″ Cards (3 each of 26 designs) so you could make a ton of cards for only $14.95.

What makes using the PML cards so fabulous is most of the work is done for you, all I did was add some bling for the most part.  Check out the 18 cards I created (there are two of each design).

Don’t you just love them and they were seriously so simple!  Cardstock, sequins, clear sparkles, pink glitter gems, bakers twine, shimmer trim, glitter paper and Bling Gems is all it took.  I highly recommend giving these a try as you will be amazed on how easily they come together.  You can check out all the PML kits right HERE.

Moving is in Full Swing

I cannot believe we are already to move week.  The movers arrived wasted no time packing everything up.  One of the guys started in my craft room and 29 boxes later I am left with only a shell.  I don’t think he was paying me a complement when he was stating how many boxes there were 🙂 .  All that remains is my printer, phone and furniture 🙁 .    It is so sad to see it in this condition….
My craft room

We will be leaving Spokane this week and head to Colorado.  I am very excited and sad at the same time.  I am really going to miss having my girls come to the house for workshops.   I am still planning to offer workshops for those who are still interested; however, they will be ones you can do at home with detailed directions, cutting guides and photos.  Once I get settled I will start workshops up again for anyone in the Golden/Arvada CO area who is interested.

I will say one good thing that comes from a major move like this, is it gives me the opportunity to reorganize my craft room.  Every time I am able to reorganize my craft room I get inspired and find some hidden treasures 🙂  I will post some photos of my new digs and explain how I organize things.  I will warn you then new room may get more natural light than this one, it is an unfinished basement.  There is a concrete slab and insulation on the walls but I will not get to decorate the walls yet…  Hopefully we will get to finish off the basement in a year or two.

So until we get settled I will not have as many posts as I would like.  I do have some thing I have already completed and will be sharing over the next two weeks. So stay tuned.

Big News!!!

My family and I are Colorado bound!!!

 images

This has all come about rather quickly and I was really hoping to have time to let all my local customers know in person.  I was able to let many of my local people know this past weekend at my Open House and Crop.  But in case you were not able to make it here is the scoop.

This move all came about rather quickly.  My husband was offered a promotion and a great opportunity in Golden Colorado.  He was offered the position on July 18th and unofficially started on July 21st.   We decided we need to get the house on the market right away as we would be going on vacation Aug 1-7 and this would be a great time to have the house on the market and all the showings.  I knew it was going to next to impossible keeping the house neat with a toddler running around :-).  So we had the realtor come out on July 23rd to take photographs and we completed the paperwork.   About two hours after she left we had our first terrible windstorm!!! It was like there was a 20 minute hurricane.  We had some minor damage, almost took out a tree and lost power.  Needless to say the first two days the house was on the market we had no power.  The first call for a showing came in on Friday the 25th.  We luckily got power back on before they came.  We had three groups come through the house between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon.   On Friday night we already had an offer!! SO one week after the job offer we had our house under contract and set to close the end of August!  Wow that could not be working out any better.

My husband came home Friday night and we realized with the house under contract and our vacation in one week when would we have time to go look for a house????  So we decided we would leave on Monday for CO.  I would go house hunting while he worked.  We would then head from CO to Florida for my Family get together.  We were able to find a house on the first day!  We did manage to have a great time in Florida despite learning of a second major wind and lightning storm blowing thru which resulted in fires just up the road and more severe winds.  We returned on Aug 7th  to find the house in good shape but the tree that was damaged from the first storm was likely going to have to come out.

I had one week to finish preparing for the Open House and Crop which was Aug 16th.  Everything went well and I was so pleased to see everyone before we have to go.  Now I am down to the final week and a half roughly.  This week I will be running so errands and trying to see some more friend.   Then it is crunch time.  The movers will be arriving on Aug 25th and we are gone on Aug 28th…. Yikes!  No mind you my husband is having to leave every Monday and fly to Denver every week so I am left holding the fort.  I will say my crafting is what is keeping me sane with the continued storms, power outages and move preparations.

I want everyone to know I am planning to continue to offer my workshops but will need to figure out when and who would like to come now that I will be in the Arvada/Golden CO area.  Now have no fear for those of you who do not live in the CO area,  I am going to be offering my workshops as kits, so you can do them at home.  In the past I have included a color photo and some directions but these will be much more involved.  You will be able to find my kits by going to the workshops and kits page then clicking on the link listed by the particular paper pack.  I will be putting them up as they are ready.  In the past I have offered the kits for that particular month, but now they will be available for several months.  This way you can save on shipping by combining the kits. Welcome To CatScrapbooking

Well today I am embarking on a new challenge for myself. I created a blog…. I am trying to raise more awareness of my new business venture as an independent consultant for Close to My Heart and my love of crafts.   I have always loved art and being creative in one way or another.  Ten years ago I became addicted to scrapbooking and in the last two months I have become a card maker.  My hope with this blog is to inspire you to create something new and enjoy being creative.
