Penelope ~ Just Because ~ Chicks ~ CatScrapbooking.comI have been admiring the curtain fold cards I have been seeing and decided to give it a try.  I used Penelope paper pack and complements. If you are interested in trying the curtain fold there are many tutorial out there and I still need to play around with the size.  I started with a 3″ by 7 3/4″ strip.  I started by making a tick mark on the right side 1 1/4″ down from the top along the short side and at 2 3/4″ in along bottom left side.  Then trim at an angle connecting the two tick marks.  I then scored starting at the left at 2 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5″ and 6 1/8″.  This results in a 3″ by 3 3/4″ finished fold.

I have been working on my on my personal challenge of designing a layout every week so I knew I would do a layout and I just happen to have some Easter photos that needed to be scrapbooked.

Easter Layout ~ Penelope ~ Spring Critters ~ Overlays ~ CatScrapbooking.comI knew the Penelope paper would be perfect for my Easter layout.  Here is a closer look at each side.  I apologize but the Honey color looks off to me and I just could not get right.

Easter Layout left ~ Penelope ~ Spring Critters ~ Overlays ~ CatScrapbooking.comFor the left side I used one of the white overlays and trimmed it to go over the lower right photo.  I used the Artbooking cartrige to cut the photo frame and backed it with silver glitter paper.  I had to to use that adorable fox with the Spring Critter stamp set since my son’s Easter basket was a fox.

Easter Layout right ~ Penelope ~ Spring Critters ~ Overlays ~ CatScrapbooking.comHere is the right side, I also used one of the white overlay on the upper right photo.

Charlotte Layout ~ Springtime Wishes ~ Puffies ~ CatScrapbooking@gmail.comSo two years ago we went on a week vacation to Florida which was a series of interesting events.  On the way down we missed our connection so we had to spend the night in a hotel which was not that bad since the airline paid for it but when traveling with a 2 year old you only carry on extra clothes for him.  We finally arrived and it was a beautiful day.  The next day that all changed as it rained no let me rephrase it was a MONSOON!!  For the next 5 days it rained.  But we made the best of it but it was tough being trapped in a house with 4 little boys.

For this layout I used the following product:

Now it is time to move onto your next stop on the hop, which is  LAUREN MOORE’S Blog, so hop on over and see what wonderful creation she has for you today.

Technique Blog Hop – Bokeh Stamping

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

12375999_10153309114907934_8934746437459467447_nThis month we are featuring the Bokeh Technique!  Have you seen those awesome backgrounds with the white circles which crates an out of focus look.  It is hard to describe this technique but with photographs “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”.  It has been adapted to crafting and this month we have 6 consultants featuring artwork using this technique.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from MELISSA ROBINSON ’S Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork.

I really love this technique and have used it a number of times.  I decided to show you the Bokeh technique with a twist ~ Paw prints.  The first thing I did is I went into Design Space and using the Heart Paw Print #m4130AD from the Artistry cartridge.  I hid the contour lines of heart leaving just the paw print.  I copied the image so there were 4 which were all different sizes.  Then creating a 4″ square I used my slice tool and created my own stencil.

Mask for Bokeh Technique ~ Pawprints ~ Artistry ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen using approximately 5.25″x 4″ pieces of White daisy I applied ink using a dubber in a random pattern.

Bokeh Technique ink application ~ CatScrapbooking.comWith the first piece I used Pixie, Hollyhock and Ruby.  I used a dauber to apply the color randomly.  Bokeh technique ink application ~ Techniques ~ CatScrapbooking.comWith this one I used Pixie, Canary and Glacier again using the dauber to apply the ink.  The next step is to apply the white ink to create the Bokeh technique.  I have a stencil with various sized circles so I started with that.  I then came back with the Paw Print Stencil to create these:Bokeh Technique with pawprints ~ CatScrapbooking.comThen I trimmed the cardstock to the appropriate sizes in this case 5″ x 3 3/4″.   I then added a sentiment and the adorable dog from Love My Dog A1178Bokeh ~ Ruby, Pixie & Hollyhock pawprints ~ Love my Dog ~ CatScrapbooking.comBokeh ~ Canary, Pixie & Glacier pawprints ~ Love my Dog ~ CatScrapbooking.comI did learn something that I wanted to share with you.  If you plan to stamp on the Bokeh pattern it does not work very well after the fact.  The white pigment ink shows through whether you us pigment or ink.  So my suggestion is emboss first then do the Bokeh technique.  To fix this I used black and silver heat embossed dogs which I fussy cut and covered my “mistake”.  It was a learning experience which is always cool but frustrating at times.  Like they day there are no mistakes in crafting only creative ways to fix :-).

Here is my list of supplies used:

Calendar Gifts with Studio J Part 2

Are you ready for two more months from my 2016 Calendars?  If you missed my post from Wednesday you can check it out HERE. Every year for Christmas I design four calendars, three are gifts and one to keep.  I was so excited to see how Amy Ulen designed her calendar using Studio J at Convention this year.  I really like our new My Creations Calendar Z3184 and it works perfectly with a new In Review C1622 stamp set.

2016 Calendar July ~ Studio J ~ Zoe ~ CatScrapbooking.comAmy Ulen shared her JPGs that had the months of the year and then I designed all the 12 x 12 layouts using the Zoe Papers.  However if you notice there are two Sorbet pattern papers but in the Zoe paper pack there is only one.  2016 Calendar July top ~ Studio J ~ Zoe ~ CatScrapbooking.comIf you notice the one I used as the base is actually Slate in the true Zoe paper pack.  So you may be asking how did I get it to be Sorbet?  Take a look at this:

Screen Shot 2015-12-08 at 9.17.51 AMYou can actually change the color of the pattern papers from full color to one of the colors in the paper pack.  Pretty nifty right???

2016 Calendar Dec ~ Studio J ~ Zoe ~ CatScrapbooking.comI really love the idea of using photos for Holidays and special occasions.

2016 Calender December ~ Studio J ~ Zoe ~ CatScrapbooking.comI used mostly the No Limits pattern in Studio J to create my layouts but you can certainly use any of the pattern.  I am so pleased the way these turned out and look forward to designing next years.
