Heart 2 Heart ~ Seasons Change

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

This challenge is Seasons Change!  I love to create home decor with each season. I have created various banners and wreaths for the different seasons.  When I was changing out to spring decorations, I realized I did not have a spring wreath. So I knew what my project would be….

Catscrapbooking ~ Close to My Heart ~ CTMH ~ flowers ~ Wreath ~ Paper flowers ~ Flower MarketI remembered I had a couple of extra Welcome Home kits from a couple years ago.  I used the wreath base from that kit. I cut all the flowers and leaves using my Cricut.  All of the leaves, flowers, and banner are from the Flower Market Cartridge, the exception is the Spring and peony flower. I used Lilac, Bluebird, Lemon, Saffron, White, Sage, Fern, New England Ivy, and Linen cardstock. I added a couple of butterflies from the Butterfly Friendship Stamp and Thin Cuts. I cut two of each butterfly.  I stamped them with the Intense Black ink and then colored them with reinker (Lilac, Canary and Bluebird) and my watercolor brush.

You can also see the shimmer that I added to the linen leaf detail with my shimmer brush.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31st to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

I used the Thin Cuts -Block Numbers and  the I Heart Us papers.  The sentiment is from A Birthday in Watercolor stamp set. To add a little sparkle I used Clear Sparkles.

The “th” is from a retied stamp set.  I popped the number panel with 3D Foam Tape.

Heart 2 Heart ~ The Wearin’ o’ the Green

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

For this Challenge we are partnering with Double Trouble. Here is how it works….
THING 1: Trouble Maker says, “Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the wearin’ o’ the green!” Dress up your project with green as the primary color. It does not have to be a St. Patty’s Day Card…celebrate any occasion.
Don’t stop here… consider Twisted Sister’s optional twist.
THING 3: Twisted Sister says “Good ole St. Paddy’s day is all about finding the Pot o’ Gold… be it in a pint o’ beer or at the end of a rainbow include a “golden touch” on your project for an added chance at our random draw.
This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble’s random prize draw if you include something gold.
THING 2: Double Dare dares you then you are eligible to link your project at Heart2Heart.” and you will receive an additional chance at the Double Trouble Random Draw.

I decided to play around with a couple of techniques to create a fun pattern for the clovers.  I will start by showing you my favorite of the cards and then break down the techniques and show you all the versions of the card.

For all of these cards I used the Swiss Dot Embossing Folder (now retired) for the base and sanded the dots to create contrast.  I used both the Thin Cuts ~ Stitched Hearts as well as the Thin Cuts ~ Basic Hearts.  I used Gold Glitter paper and the Thin Cuts ~ Stitched Square Frames. The sentiment comes from a retired stamp, Holiday Tags, since it is the only one I have that says “Happy St. Patrick’s Day.” I used the Thin Cuts~ Stitched Ovals .  The Ribbon is the New England Ivy Burlap which is on clearance right now.

The first technique I tried was to splatter yellow, blue and green watercolors onto a piece of watercolor paper. I then added water and rolled it around.  I do apologize as I forgot to take a photo of the paper when it dried.

The second technique I tried was to splatter yellow, blue, and green on the All Purpose Mat, then I spritz the mat with water.  Next I smooched the watercolor paper onto the mat.  The photo on the right is how it turned out.

These are how the above technique cards turned out.  The one of the left is the second technique and the one on the right is the first technique.  For these cards I used the Gold Fold paper and White and Gold Ribbon.

The last technique I tried was the shaving cream technique.  I used reinker in the shaving cream, I first started with a simple mixing of the ink in the upper right corner. It did not give me the coverage I hoped so I mixed the reinker more in the shaving cream.

These are the two versions with the shaving cream technique.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 31 to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ CASE File

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

The definition of CASE is to Copy And Share Everything. The Close to My Heart idea books are full of beautiful art work and inspirations. I focused on a card found on page 90 in the Seasonal Expression One Idea Book.

The pattern papers are from Something Fierce and the Seasonal Mix Ins. I also brought in a bit of sparkle with White Glitter Paper.

The sentiment and bow were heat embossed with White Embossing powered using the Egg-stra Special Stamp Set. The sequins are the I Heart Us Sequins. The ribbon is the Mink Twine.

I had so much fun making this one that I deiced to make a second which is almost the replica of the one in the Idea Book.

The only difference with the one on the right and the one in the Idea book is the direction of the pink stripes and the Glitter Paper.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until March 3rd to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~ I Heart Us

Welcome to another weekly challenge with Heart 2 Heart!

For this challenge I decided to focus on the I Heart Us papers from the Seasonal Expression One Idea book.  I love the bright colors in this paper pack.

Here is a close up of the left side.

I used the Solid Classroom Alphabet and the Outline Classroom Alphabet for the “ZOO”. I used Jennifer’s Hand which is a retired stamp set for the other letters.

I used the I Heart Us complements, the I Heart Us Sequins, and the White Ribbon for the embellishments.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until February 28th to participate in this challenge. We love to see your inspirations!!

Heart 2 Heart ~For the Love of Color

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

For this challenge if you have Close to My Hearts new how to book Love of Color you can use it for your inspiration. Please know it is not mandatory to participate in this challenge.

I decided to really push myself. I just commented on a friend of mine’s blog that I am not a yellow person and rarely use it.  So when I was working on my project I decided I would go for Lemon!  I then looked up Lemon in my Love of Color how-to-book.  In the book I saw Lemon, Glacier, Pewter and Pebble – perfect!! I then decided to use one of the cards in the New Seasonal Expression One Idea Book as my inspiration.  I pretty much lifted the card and made a couple changes.

I love the Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set!! I used Pewter and Pebble to stamp the dandelion and the fly away pieces. The Glacier pattern paper from the Seasonal Mix In papers. I used White, Lemon and Pewter cardstock.  I used White Embossing Powder for the sentiment. Final touches are the Bitty Sparkles and White Ribbon.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until February 3rd to participate in this challenge.

Technique Time with Heart 2 Heart

Welcome to another Heart 2 Heart Challenge!

This challenge is to give Stamped Backgrounds a try. Stamped Backgrounds are a great way to put your own spin on your design by creating your own pattern paper. Here is my card and then I will walk you through my steps to get here.

I love the dinosaurs which go with the Something Fierce Paper Pack. I love the pattern paper with the dinosaurs that come with the paper pack but I wanted to create my own with the cute dinosaur that comes with the Something Fierce Cardmaking Stamp Set. I used the Largest Circle Thin Cut and largest Stitched Circle Thin Cut. I also added the scallop border from Decorative Border Thin Cuts.

I started with the largest image, the dinosaurs and then stamped in a triangle shape with each color. I used Carolina, Bluebird, Lemon, and Willow.  I then used Pewter ink and stamped the confetti in the blank spots.

I also added a bit of random stamping to the stamping to the stitched circle.

I wanted to add a little extra to make the green dinosaur pop, so I added liquid glass and then fussy cut it.

Now it is your time to give it a try and link it to the HEART 2 HEART Challenge. You have until January 31st to participate in this challenge or any of our January Challenges.

Heart 2 Heart ~ Important Things

I hope your 2019 is of to a great start!! The new year always brings new beginnings and this year is no exception. This year I have taken on a new venture… becoming a member of the Design Team for Heart 2 Heart!  I am so excited to participate as part of this Design Team!

To kick of the new year at Heart 2 Heart we are are featuring the IMPORTANT THING(S) for our design challenge.  Focus on what is Important to you and share your artwork with us.

For me (and probable many others people) Family one of the Important Things.  I wanted to highlight my family by using the awesome National Papercrafting Frame from Close To My Heart.  I had this photo from a couple years ago of my son, husband and I, which would be perfect for my Magnolia Frame.

I used the “N” Chipboard letter to highlight our last name.  I then covered it with one of the Seasonal Mix in Papers, which unfortunately this particular paper just retired.  I then cut our last name using my Cricut with the Babette font on Charcoal Cardstock.

Come and join us at Heart 2 Heart and show us your IMPORTANT THINGS projects. You have until the end of January to link up with this challenge.

Winter Skies Thank You Cards

Now that Christmas is over it is time to bring out the Thank You Cards.  I make a special thank you card every year to mail out for my son and I.  I just want to make sure those who sent gifts know we appreciate them. Today I was able to carve out some time to design an make all the cards I needed this year.

Check out all those bears and trees….

Here are the two versions of the card I made.  I was inspired to make my purple background after seeing a card on Instagram by Hippofee. I used a retired stamp set called Swirling Stars. The bears and trees are from WINTER SKIES which is a Lawn Fawn Stamp Set.  The Thank You and curved dashed border are also Lawn Fawn.  My thank you cards works well with HEART 2 HEART‘s last challenge of the year…. Wish Upon A Star.

I used Lilac cardstock for the mat and Thistle for the Thank You. I used copic markers to color the trees and scarf. I stamped Swirling Stars with Versamark ink and then heat embossed with White embossing powder. I then sponged the background using Lilac, Thistle and Pansy inks.

For this version I used Bluebird cardstock for the base and Sapphire for the Thank you. The background was crated the same way using Bluebird and Sapphire inks.
