Magically Masked Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month there are 11 of us highlighting the masking technique.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork. If you are coming from DEBI MCBAINS BLOG, you are on the right track!

Masking can be done in a number of ways.  If you are using a stamp sets you cover up part of a stamp image with tape or paper and stamp only the part you want to show. I decided to make a Cricut cut to use as a mask. Here is the finished product and then I will show you how I created the fire works.

I used this fireworks overlay to make the mask.  I could not get the dimensions to fit a standard card without distorting the image.  So it was cut at 4.5″ x 6.8″ and I added a strip of paper to make it have the little border on all sides.

I then used a sponge to ink the fireworks in Sapphire and Pomegranate.

When you remove the mask it look like this.

I then turned it to the side and added the sentiment which comes from the Central Park Scrapbooking stamp set. I used second generation stamping to get the lighter background behind Summer. I then added a little liquid glass to the stars to they would pop.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto HALEY DYER’S BLOG where you will find some additional artwork highlighting the Masking!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought and happy hopping!

Happy Crafting!
