Technique Blog Hop ~ Get Back to the Fundamentals

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

SimplyFundamentalsThis month we are featuring the FUNDAMENTAL Papers and Embellishment!  Close to My Heart has just released new patters for our Fundamental papers and Embellishments to match.  You can find these on  pages 108-111 of the new Annual Inspirations Idea book.  The Fundamental papers are great as they will coordinate with any layout you wish to design.  You can create your own color combinations to match your photos. This month we have 8 consultants featuring artwork using this technique.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from PRICILLA GOTHAM ’S Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating these papers.

Fundamentals ~ Rootbeer ~ CatScrapbookign.comI love the splatter technique and decided to try something a little different this time.  I used my watercolors to create the splatter instead of ink or stamping.  I just mixed up the colors and then made sure I had a really wet brush and flicked the brush. I cut all the shapes with my Cricut.  The font for the title is Everyday Fonts – Best of Times, the circle and stars are free shapes and the banner is a cut from Artistry that I unlocked and changed the dimensions.

This month there is a great promotion going on with this Fundamental Paper collection.  The Simply Fundamental Scrapbooking workshop has been created using all the items featured in our campaign exclusive My Legacy™ album bundles, available during November for $71.80 USD / $85.25 CAD each! When you purchase the album bundle, you will also qualify to receive a value pack of side load or top load Memory Protectors™ FREE—a savings of $19.95 USD / $23.75 CAD! Yuletide Christmas Cards

I fell in love with a card that the talented WENDY COFFMAN designed using October’s SOTM and some of last years retired Yuletide paper.  I just knew the moment I saw it I was going to CASE it (copy and share everything, copy and selectively edit, & copy another scrapbookers efforts) what ever definition you see fit :-).

I love the colors with this paper pack as they are boy but can really be used for anything.  I used the new Artistry cartridge to cut the boarder on the top and right side.  I also use one of my favorite new stamp sets Ink Blot D1660.

Christmas Cards ~ White Pines

Are you ready for some more Holiday cards?  Here are two that I designed after seeing Donna Digby’s design for Color Dare #165.  I loved her ornaments card and knew I needed to recreate one myself.  Here is the link to her original card.

Here is my take on the card:

Pine Cone Ornaments

I have been making a lot of ornaments for the Craft Fair this month.  I love making these pine cones.  I made large ones last year which I display as part of my fall home decor.  You can find the link HERE.  I also made these pine cone ornaments last year but I don’t think I blogged about them.  Here are this years creations.

White Pines ~ Pinecones ~ CatScrapbooking.comDon’t you just love these?  I am sure you are now asking the question how can I make these… am I right?  Well let me tell you.  First you will need to start with these Styrofoam eggs 2 1/2″ X 1 7/8″.Eggs for Pinecones ~ CatScrapbooking.comYou will need lots of strait pins.  Then cut the paper you wish to use into 7/8″ x 7/8″ squares.  Then fold two corners in to make a point.  Next you will overlap the squares, refer to THIS LINK as I shows how to assemble and overlap squares.White Pines ~ Pinecones Ornament ~ CatScrapbooking.com~I cut the holly leaves with a SVG file on my Silhouette.  I found the holly at Hobby Lobby and it adds a nice dimension to the ornament.  I used hot glue to attach the ribbon, holly and leaves.
