11010304_10206774736873265_5056244779494318833_oI love this stamp set as the font looks like chalkboard lettering so I knew immediately I planed to use White Daisy or Colonial ink on a dark cardstock such as Black.  I was flipping through the photos I had to scrapbook and saw some fun photos of my son with one of our dogs.  I had just gotten my camera for Mother’s day that year so I had it with me all the time.  I knew the “Life is Wonderful” would be a perfect title for this layout.  I decided to mix up my papers and so I used Chalk it up with Jackson and added the Cranberry Twill ribbon to the mix.  I am really happy the way this turned out, take a look for yourself.

Life is Wonderful ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comI really love the way these paper packs went together even though if you layout all the papers you would never think to use them together.  I used the cranberry to add a little pop of bright color and to match the red in the photos. Here is a close up of the tittle and individual pages.

Life is Wonderful detail ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comI used Colonial White ink on the Black cardstock ~ I love the way it looks like a chalkboard!! I stamped the arrows the same way.

Life is Wonderful right ~ July SOTM ~ Jackson paper pack ~ Chalk it Up paper pack ~ CTMH ~ catscrapbooking.comThe scalloped border was crated using a border punch I have in my collection.

Boys Cards ~ Part 2

As I promised earlier this week here are two more boy themed cards I designed.  I really love using the Picture My Life cards to create cards.  It cuts down on the design time as you already have a great colorful 3×4 or 4×6 card and all you need to do is add a base and possibly some bling.

Boy's cards ~ Later Sk8er ~ PML cards ~ catscrapbooking.comWith this card I used the Stripe Embossing folder Z 1960 on Outdoor Denim.  I backed the 3×4 Later Sk8r PML card Z1945 with Ruby. Then to add a little extra I used White Enamel Stars Z2010.  How simple is that??

Boy cards ~ Later Sk8er ~ PML Cards ~ catscrapbooking.comSo for this card I used a Later Sk8r 3×4 PML card and backed it with White Daisy cardstock  I then had a little extra Honeycomb Embossed Outdoor Denim from the first cards I made so I used that to break up the stripes from the Pear Fundamental paper. For the bling I used the Green and Blue Epoxy Bubbles Z1806.

Now I my next task in the near future it to design some boy and girl birthday cards.  I hope to get to those in the next week or so.

Boy Cards ~ part 1

I always feel I am running short on boy theme cards.  I really needed to sit down and crate a few as I have some cousins and nephews who I like to send cards to during the summer and while they are at camp.   I decided I would make my life easy and use the Picture My Life cards from Later Sk8r.  These worked perfectly and it to so little effort to design.  Here are the first two:

Boy cards ~ Later Sk8r ~ PML Cards ~ catscrapbooking.com

For this one I used the Adventure Fundamental Paper Pack for the base color and then used the Honeycomb Embossing folder with Outdoor Denim.  I matted the PML card on some White Daisy cardstock.  To add a little something extra I added three green epoxy bubbles. Boy Cards 3 ~ Later Sk8r ~ PML Cards ~ catscrapbooking.comWith this card, I used the Honeycomb Embossing folder with the Outdoor Denim, then took a sanding block and ran it over the top of the embossed cardstock.  I used the new Hello Summer  C1595 stamp set which I inked in Outdoor Denim on Ruby cardstock.  I also used Lagoon and Whisper cardstock.  To add a little more texture I used the Aqua dots and a bit of Liquid Glass on the white circles in the cup to look like moisture.

These cards came together so quickly and they look so fun.  I will share two more with you this week.

Happy Father’s Day!

For the past three years for Father’s Day,  I have assisted my son in creating a canvas which features his hand prints and a fun saying for his dad.  Here are the three I have done in the past.Father's day gifts ~ kids handprint gifts ~ catscrapbooking.com ca

So I could not drop the ball this year.  I saw a design on Pinterest using a footprint incorporated into a guitar. Since Mike is a drummer and can play guitar, I knew this would be perfect.  So here is our version:

Father's Day ~ dad you rock ~ kids footprint ~ fathers day gift ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Silhouette to cut the guitar strings, notes and Dad you Rock using vinyl.  I am very happy the way this turned out.  I am fairly certain my husband will feel the same.  Gavin was happy with the way it looks and can’t wait to say “surprise”.

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ M

Welcome to the Everything ABC’S Blog Hop!

ABC's Blog Hop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “M”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “M” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, welcome!  If you just hopped here from DARLYS RECKER’S Blog  then you are in the right place.   The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Linda’s blog HERE.

I wanted to get back into working on my layouts so I looked through the ones I have ready to scrapbook and see if any would work for the letter “M” .  I realized I had photos from our trip to McCALL, ID from MARCH and I could use a M sized stamp set ~ Single Snowflake M1031 (retired).

Snowhaven ~ ACBs M ~ Snow layout ~ Snowflakes ~ catscrapbookingFor this layout I used Glacier for the base pages and Snowhaven for the pattern paper.  I used Snowhaven compliments with a little touch of red shimmer trim.  I stamped a couple of the Single Snowflakes and then used white embossing powder.  I also cut snowflakes using my Artbooking cartridge. I used whisper for some of the snowflakes but highlighted them with a white pen.

Color Dare #147 ~ Monochromatic

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge!  This week the Color Dare #147 challenge is Monochromatic and you get to choose the color.

11406844_10153070820969440_7347783854750262705_nI got a little carried away and actually designed three cards each using a different color choice.  For all the cards I embossed white cardstock using the quatrefoil embossing folder Z1926.  Then using some metal dies I have I cut the inserts for each card.   The first one I designed, I chose Lagoon as my color.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess Rewards ~ Color Dare 147 ~ Lagoon Monochromatic ~ catscrapbooking.com

I really like the hostess rewards stamp set Paper Bird so I knew this was the stamp set I wanted to work with.  I stamped the bird twice then cut out the wing and popped it up using thin foam tape.  I used Aqua dots to add a little extra to the card.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess ~Color Dare 147 ~ Thistle monocromatic ~ catscrapbooking.comWith this version I used Thistle as my color and the butterfly as the feature stamp which is also from the Paper Bird Hostess exclusive stamp set.  I added Purple Glitter gems and Thistle ribbon to the card.

Paper Bird ~ Hostess Rewards ~ Color Dare 147 ~ Pixie Monochromatic ~ catscrapbooking.com

For the last one I stayed with the butterfly but changed the color to Pixie.  I used the pink shimmer trim and one of the flowers from the Brushed assortment.

Now it is your turn to create! Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #147.  For this Color Dare Challenge, you have until Thursday June 25, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time to submit your project.   We love to see your inspirations.

Artfully Sent Father’s Day Card

I finally was able to get some free time to create a Father’s Day card for my husband.  I love The Best Dad Ever stamp set but I wanted to make one using Artfully Sent too.  So here is what I designed.

Father's Day card ~ Wanderful ~ Artfully Sent ~ catscrapbooking.comI used the card on page 40 of the Artfully Sent cartridge.  This card was perfect for my husband since he loves his muscle cars, although this is not a Corvette it should still go over well.   I decided to use Wanderful paper pack as it would be perfect since one of the pattern papers looked like a map.  Plus I have not really played with this pack yet.  I cut the Wanderful patten paper using my Cricut Explore.  I changed the measurements to be 5.5″ wide by  8″ tall.  I did have to unlock the measurements to get this size.  Then after cutting what I intended to be the card base and just line it, I changed my mind.  I decided to have a boarder around the pattern so I cut it at 5.75″ x 8.25″ .  I realize this is not a standard card size but it does not really matter since I will not be mailing.  To create the layers I went into Design Space and hid the outer contour line so the lines around the car and the detail on the cars was what remained.  I did this twice with the Crystal Blue and Black (for the tires only).  I then just pieced the Black, Whisper, Honey and Colonial White behind the open spaces of the car.  I added a little bling with Black and Gray Epoxy Bubbles Z1935.

Father's Day card ~ wanderful ~ artfully sent ~ The Best Dad Ever ~ catscrapbooking.comFor the inside I carried the Wanderful patten paper at the bottom.  I used The Best Dad Ever stamp set A1173 but I did not want to use the top hat, mustache and bow tie, so I used masking tape to mask off what part of the stamp I did not want to use.

I will be posting my son’s gift to his dad on Father’s Day so stay tuned.

Technique Blog Hop ~ Call for Backup

Welcome to the Technique Blog Hop!

11230027_10152869466882934_6533465798642750460_n

This month we are featuring a technique called ~ Call for Backup which can be found on page 180 of the Annual Inspirations Idea book.  This technique is real simple as anytime you use a punch or even use a cricut to cut out a pattern you can back it with a different color, shimmer trim or pattern paper. This month we have 10 consultants featuring artwork using this technique so you will definitely be inspired.  If you just hopped onto my blog or arrived from WENDY KESSLER’s Blog then you are in the right place.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

I needed to create a father’s day card for my dad so I though I would incorporate this technique into my card. I love the new The Best Dad Ever A1173 stamp set and knew it would be perfect with the Jackson paper pack.

Happy Father's Day ~ The Best Dad Ever ~ Jackson paper ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this card I used the following products:

Beach Theme Cards

I am finally beginning to settle back into a routine after a week long vacation.  This was the first vacation my husband I have taken which was longer than 3 nights or not going to visit family since our honeymoon 15 years ago.  Needless to say this was long overdue!!!  We went to Antigua WI and spent our days on the beach and by the pool ~ it was heaven.  While we were there we meet a fun couple from North Carolina.  We ended up having dinner and drinks a couple nights.  So I wanted to make sure we stayed in touch so I though I would design a card for them.

I have been wanting to play around with the Treasured Friendship C1594 stamp set and now I had the perfect occasion to do so.  I got to thinking that I could create the sand look by doing the background using the Boken technique and then stamp the shells on top.  I LOVE the way this turned out.

Treasured Friendship ~ Boken ~ seashells ~ catscrapbooking.comI used Champagne, Cashmere, Saddle and Whisper inks on a piece of Colonial White cardstock.  I applied the inks in a random pattern using a sponge.  I then used Colonial White ink to create the Boken technique. I then came back and stamped the shells using pigment inks ~ Chocolate, Sorbet and Saddle.  I matted the Colonial White cardstock on Sorbet cardstock before adhering to card base.  I added a few of the sequins from the Ocean collection.  I did use another shell and the sentiment “friends are like shellshells, you pick them up along the way” on the inside. To create the extra stippling at the bottom of the card I used a splatter stamp stamp set from my stash.  This card definitely feel beach like to me.
