I love IRIS FOLD cards and decided to use this for my “I” element.  Since I am a veterinarian I am drawn to animal related artwork.  I also know there is an unfortunate need for sympathy cards.  I had a reminder  this past week with the passing of one of our family members. So in Neeko’s memory I designed these cards.

Color Dare #139 ~ Sorbet & Champagne

Welcome to another fun color challenge at Color My Heart.  This week we are featuring just two colors Sorbet and Champagne for Color Dare #139.

Please remember with the new rules this year you can no longer add neutrals to your color combinations this year.  You can use black and white, unless otherwise specified.

11149492_10152955627769440_2669252431035612173_nI have to admit this color challenge was a bit difficult for me as I was really trying to stay with just the two colors.  I decided to look through my Artfully Sent booklet for inspiration and saw this card.

Color Dare #139 ~ Sorbet & Champagne ~ Artfully Sent ~ catscrapbooking.comI added the banner with the sentiment along with some Opaque Mocha pearls.  Here is the inside:

Color Dare #139 ~ sorbet & champagne ~ Artfully Sent ~ happy anniversary ~ catscrapbooking.comI cut a second base and only used a portion so I could create a sandwich with the champagne in the middle so it showed through the heart when open too.

Now it is your turn to create. Just create a project (card, layout or other craft project) using this weeks colors.  Then link them to the Color My Heart Blog ~ Color Dare #139.

I can’t believe Mother’s day is just around the corner, May 10th.  I really love the new Flowers for Mom stamp set B1473.FLowers for Mom

I wanted to make a fancy fold type card and thought an easel card would be a good one for Mother’s day as it could be a display card.  The two paper packs that came to mind to use were Blossom and Brushed. Here is what I designed.

10622835_10152753930052934_714937006075703070_n

This month there are 11 consultants featuring the technique ~ EMBOSSING IS BACK!  This technique is featured on page 128 of the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.  Embossing is a great way to add some interest to your projects and a little shimmer.  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.  If you are coming from HALEY DYER’S Blog, you are on the right track!

I love the stamp set Smiles Begin with You A1172 and the cover of the My Creations Mini Mix Album shown on pg 17 of the new Seasonal Expressions 2.  So I decided to make a card based on this cover using white embossing powder and black cardstock.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Thistle ~ Technique Hop ~ Embossing ~
I colored the Clear Sparkles with my Peony Purple ShinHan marker to make them puple.  For my next card I then decided I wanted to create one more using Kraft cardstock with the white embossing.

So Many of My Smiles ~ Blossom ~ Embossing ~ Technique Hop ~ #catscrapbooking.comI so love the new Blossom paper pack so it was the perfect choice to use with the Kraft.

Products used for these cards:

  • Papers ~ Blossom Paper Pack X7196B, Glacier Cardstock, Thistle Fundamental Paper, Black Cardstock and Kraft Cardstock
  • Extra Thick Twine ~ Glacier Z3039 and Thistle Z3040
  • Embellishments ~ Coral Reef Sequins Z3042 and Clear Sparkles Z1752

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto DARLYS RECKER’S Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

I know this time of year everyone gets so excited when warmer weather rolls around.  Particularly in some areas where this winter has been a rough one.   We have been having some really beautiful weather particularly on our weekends.  I have fallen in love (head over heals) with the new Blossom Paper Pack which is featured in the Seasonal Expressions 2 which was just released.  I have already created 5 layouts using this AWESOME paper pack (which you can find here & here).  I decided to create yet another, this time for my Shadow Box which I use to showcase the seasons.  I needed one for spring.  I knew with this past weekend being Easter I knew we would have an opportunity to take a family photo which I would feature in this layout.

Spring ~ Shadow Box ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ catscrapbooking.com I have really been loving the Wavy Blooms stamp set and so it was perfect for this layout.  I used a blender pen to crate the soft colors on the flowers.

Spring ~ Blossom ~ Wavy Blooms ~ catscrapbooking.comI used my Cricut to make several of the cuts for this layout.  The circle is a design from my cricut subscription.  The large Pear banner and the “Spring” are from the Artiste cartridge.

Here is a list of supplies used for this project.

Now hop on over to SHEILA BENNETT’S Blog and see what wonderful creation she has for you today. If you get lost along the way here is the full list of participants.

I recently stumbled on a card technique which intrigued me and decided to give it a try, it was the HERRINGBONE technique. Since I still love the HOPSCOTCH paper pack, I thought it would be perfect for this project.  I also used the new Operations Smile Stamp set, HAPPY EVERYTHING.

Happy Every Thing ~ Hopscotch ~ Herringbone ~ catscrapbooking.comI checked out a YouTube video to learn the technique.  The one I watched used 1/4″ paper strips.  I wanted to use the chevron pattern paper so I made my strips 7/16″.  It was so easy and I love the way it turned out.

I had been struggling with a layout for these photos of my son for quite some time.  Then I saw the Blossom paper pack and knew it was the perfect paper.  I found a sketch that was the base of my inspiration but ended up changing it quite a bit in the end.  Over all I am pleased the way this layout turned out and I love the Stamp “Smiles Begin with You” and it was so fitting for this layout.

Blossom ~ Dream Big~ Butterflies ~ Smiles begin with you ~ catscrapbooking.comSince this was a professional photo shot I thought it would be fitting to add the camera charm which is from the Craft Queen Base & Bling Charms.

Blossom ~ Dream Big ~ butterflies ~ catscrapbooking.comFor this layout fussy cut all the butterflies from the “Your Own Kind of Wonderful” and the tag is from Artbooking page 39.  To create the tone on tone look for the butterflies I stamped the base color in second generation ink and then the full color for the top layer.

Blossom Workshop

Well even though today is April Fools this is definitely not a joke!!  Today is the day Close to My Heart is launching its second Seasonal Expression Idea Book.

1504-se-coverJust like its predecessor it is chalked full of wonderful goodness.  You are going to just fall in love!! I love both of the paper packs featured in this idea book . Jackson is total outdoor and boy themed and then there is Blossom.  Don’t let the name fool you…. It does have flowers but being that I scrapbook mostly about boys (I know I should do more for myself but it is not as much fun) I am still in love with this paper pack as it features blues, greens and orange! These colors are prefect for a boys and girls.

After seeing the new papers I knew my first project had to be with Blossom Paper Pack.  I designed a FOUR layout workshop using the Blossom Paper Pack.
