Color Dare #120

Welcome to this weeks Color My Heart Color Challenge #120.  For this week we are featuring Barn Red, Goldrush, Glacier, Olive, and Lagoon.  Which just so happens to be the colors of the Pathfinding paper pack!!

Color Dare #120

I really love the leaves of the Fall Harvest stamp set.  I wanted to try a new way to color them using a technique I had seen using stamp pads, the all purpose mat and a spray pen.  Here is how it works.  the first step is to rub your ink pad onto the shinny side of your CTMH All Purpose mat.  If you do not have an all purpose mat you may be able to do this with a ziplock style bag.  I used one of my spay pens with a little water to spay the inked area.

ink technique ~ catscrapbooking.com

I cut the leaves using my silhouette ~ I created my own cut file.  Then placing the paper or in this case the leaves face down into the ink I was able to create a marbled look.

Ink technique 2 ~ catscrapbooking.com

I then just wiped the mat with a baby wipe and the ink is all cleaned up.  I then flipped the mat over and using my craft heater I dried the leaves so I could stamp them in Chocolate.  I really like the way they turned out.

Color Dare 120 ~ Catscrapbooking.comYou are getting a sneak peek at one of the new hostess stamp sets from the Seasonal Expression which goes live next month!!! It is the Thank you stamp.

Supplies used for this card:

  • Paper pack ~ Pathfinding

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ X

 ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “X”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “X” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY .  If you just came from DIANA SANDERS Blog then you are in the right place.

The letter “X” is a difficult letter to come up with paper, stamp or embellishment as there is only a limited number of words which begin with the letter “X”.  So I had to get a bit creative…. We are heading into the holiday season and since Christmas is often abbreviated X-Mas, I thought this would be perfect.  What would make great gifts for X-mas presents but a bottle of wine. Yes if you follow my blog or this hop then this will sound familiar as I designed a wine tag for the letter “W”.   Well here is another one I designed.  I have to say I love this concept and you will be seeing more.

Winter Cheer Wine tag ~ Catscrapbooking.com

To created the soft color of the polar bear I used a bit of reindeer with a blending pen.  It created a softer look than using the alcohol marker which was the look I was going for.  You could use watercolor pencils too but my blues did now match the way I wanted.

For this tag I used the following products:

  • Paper pack~ Snowhaven
  • Cardstock ~ Daisy White
  • Stamp Set ~ Polar Bear Holiday C1557
  • Shimmer Trim ~ Red
  • Stickles
  • Ink/re-inkers~ Black Momento, Glacier, Ruby and Whisper

So how to decide what to do??? I really love the scene cards and have been wanting to make one in particular ~ the one with the deer and the bunny.  As you may know already I love to design things with animals in them so this was really a no brainer.

Artfully Sent Blog Hop

Welcome to the Artfully Sent Blob Hop!!
Artfully+Sent+500
Today you will be hopping with the same talented consultants who bring you the Stamp of the Month blog hop.  Today we are featuring the new Close to My Heart Cricut Cartridge ~ Artfully Sent.  This is an awesome cartridge which will help you create fabulous cards which can pop-up, pocket or create scenes just to name a few.  But wait that is not all…. If you love Picture My Life you can now create your own inserts.
If you are coming here from DONNA DIGBY‘ Blog then you are on the right track ~ Welcome!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, you can find the complete list of participating  consultants on Melinda’s blog HERE.   For this hop we have over 40 consultants participating so you are going to see some fabulous artwork.
My father’s 75th birthday is today so I wanted to design a fun card for the occasion.  I chose one of the Pop-Up cards on page 40 the “You’re a classic”.  I prefer cards to be the A2 size(4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″) and most of the cards with the cartridge are recommended to be at the 5″ x 7″ size.  So to resize the card to the A2 I designed the layers in CCR.  I started with the base and sized it so the width was 5.5″.  I then just added the additional layers and using the lower right corner of the image once in CCR, I resized each layer so it worked with my base.Page 40 ~ catscrapbooking.com
Since I was designing a birthday card I needed a birthday sentiment.  So I found the one on page 27.  Using the same method of sizing, I was able to scale this to the appropriate size for the outside of the card.
Page 27 ~ Catscrapbooking.com
Here is the finished design.  I added a little extra to the car by using a grey pen to create fenders and accent the center of the wheels.  I chose the Yuletide Carol paper to work with as it has a classic feel and complemented it with the New England Ivy.

For this project I used the following products:

  • Paper Packs ~ Yuletide Carol & Enchanted Fundamentals (New England Ivy)
  • Cardstock ~ Black, New England Ivy, Whisper and Champagne
  • Embellishments ~ Black Twill Ribbon, Scardy Cat Assortment for the black stars, and brads from my stash

ABC’s Blog Hop ~ W

ABC's Blog Hop

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter “W”.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their “W” element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY .  If you just came from CAROL-ANNE GRENIER’S Blog then you are in the right place.

My inspiration for my “W” came this week when I received a bottle of wine and on it was a cute pre-printed gift tag.  I thought what a great concept, but I could create my own.  These could be wonderful for Christmas gifts.  My “W” it is Wine tag and Wreath.

Wine Tags ~ Catscrapbooking.comProducts used to create the wine tag:

  • Cardstock ~ Colonial white & Topiary
  • Inks ~ Ruby, Topiary, & Chocolate
  • Stamp Set ~ Merry Merry C1591
  • Embellishments ~ Stickles and bakers twine from stash
  • Foam tape
  • Embossing Folder ~ Quatrefoil

I did use pigment ink for the pine cones so they would be a bit richer and show up over the wreath.  I also scanned the carrier sheet for the stamp set so I could have my Silhouette cut the tag for the Merry Merry Christmas.

Your next stop is LAUREN MOORE’S Blog hop on over and see what wonderful creation she has for you today.

If you get lost along the way you can see the full list of participants at  LINDA’S BLOG ~ SCRAPPY THERAPY.
