Christmas Gifts

I was able to make a few of my Christmas gifts this year.  It was so nice to find the time to do this.  I always struggle with what to get my mom.  I have found the best thing is to give her is something that I have made.  Then with us living so far away she enjoys creations involving our son.  So I am sure this will be a hit.

For this project I used the 5″ x 7″ Hinged Display Tray.

5X7 Hinged Display Tray

I picked the “Oliver” paper by Basic Grey.  I was able to use my Cricut for the first time to cut the arrow shapes and then used them with the coordinating Dimensional Elements.  I also used the Irresistibles Hexagons which I absolutely LOVE!! They are so cool they way they take up ink.  Then I was able to use the Tiny Type Epoxy Alphabet along with the Dimensional Elements numbers. Here is a close up:

I really love the way this display tray turned out.  Now I cant wait to do one for us.

The first mini album is done at 8 1/2″ by 11″ and the second one is only 8″ tall.  Be sure to watch the video the whole way through because at the end she gives some great tips for understanding how the Cricut sizes items.  I found this to be most helpful as I am new to using a Cricut.

Christmas Cheer

I always have great intentions of completing lots of projects every year for the holidays and last year was no exception.  I purchased this set of Christmas blocks, unfortunately I don’t remember where.  I soon realized time was going by too fast and I would not get the project completed for Christmas 2012.  This year I was determine to get the blocks completed.  These blocks were natural wood when I purchased them.  I painted them red and green.  Then I used Mod Podge over the paper and blocks which produced the glossy sheen.  I then used embellishments to add a bit of interest to the blocks.

Christmas Decorations

I have been very busy making Christmas cards, gifts and decorations.  It has been a lot of fun and I have actually completed more than I thought I would.  I will share some of the the things with you over the next few posts.

These Santa cones were something I stumbled on when going through Craft Warehouse.  I thought they were so adorable and knew I needed to complete some for myself.  The cones are spay painted with a red glitter spray paint, Glitter Blast by Krylon.  The trim is a feather trim and the belt is black ribbon with CTMH glitter paper cut on my Silhouette in a belt shape.

Stay tuned for more holiday decorations….

Artbooking Made Easy~ Wintertime Layouts

It is winter time here in the Pacific Northwerst! Now all I need is some snow so I can start taking some fun wintertime photos.  We are definitely having winter as the past few days have been very cold!!  I could not believe our car thermometer said it was eight below the other night.  I am looking forward to designing more wintertime page layouts and here are some great ideas. This weeks Artbooking Video features the keys on pages 76 and 77 of the Artbooking cartridge.

Stampers with Attitude ~ Flip Flap Hop

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!

The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show how the Stampers With an Attitude use Flip Flaps in their artwork , so here we go.  If you have never used Flip Flaps by the time you are finished with this hop you will be a pro and ready to jump in!!  I love Flip Flaps because I often have a lot of photos I want to use on a layout but don’t want to make them so small or have the layout feel over crowded and the Flip Flaps help me to accomplish this.

If you have just come from MELINDA EVERITT’s Blog ~ If You Bling It then you are in the right place!

Growing up in New Orleans we did not really get snow very often.  I now live in the Pacific Northwest and love the fact we get snow.  I get so giddy every time it starts to flurry.   I am always taking lots of photos of the dogs in the snow and now my son.  I designed this layout which holds 12 photo ~ (10) 31/2″ x 5″ and (2) 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ using Flip Flaps.  Unfortunately flip Flaps and the page protectors make photographing the art work very difficult due to the reflection.  So you will get the idea as I have the layout shown just not in the actual page protectors.  I used a 6″x12″ Flip Flap to give me the additional 6 photos on my layout.

Frosted flip flap layout_full

This is the layout with the Flip Flap closed.  I used the Frosted Paper pack with Champagne as the base.  On the base page I used my spay pen with Colonial White and Pearl paint to create the over-spray look and give a little shimmer.  The reindeer were cut using a Tim Holtz die and then randomly stamped with Twilight ink and one of the stamps from All Decked Out (retired stamp set).  The snowflake border was cut using my Silhouette as with the tittle.  The snowflake rosettes is also a Tim Holtz die.

Frosted flip flap layout_open

This is the layout with the Flip Flap open showing the 6 additional photos.  Now I am just waiting for my photos to come.  I have been using Studio J to print my photos so they can be sized to the layout and then all I have to do is cut them out an pop them into my completed layouts.

Redneck Christmas

A friend of mine asked me to design a Christmas card for them.  They wanted to do a redneck Christmas theme this year since they were hosting Christmas for the family.  She asked me for assistance on the card design.  She said she was thinking lights, trailer and antlers…. Here is what I came up with.

Redneck Christmas

I used my Silhouette to cut all the shapes – the trailer, antlers and lights.  The snow is actually liquid applique which added a nice touch.  She was thrilled with the design now I can’t wait to here how it goes.

Studio J Holiday Cards

I have been busy working on holiday cards.  I have made a lot, but decided I would try using Studio J to create some as well.  I had seen some designed by Brae Montgomery and you can check them out her on her BLOG .

I decided to give it a try…. It was actually fairly easy and fun.  I really like using Studio J and now I have another reason to love it.

Here are the cards I designed using the Sparkle & Shine paper pack:

I then decided to try some using the Jingle paper, here is how those turned out:
