Happy Halloween!!

I hope everyone is having a spooktacular Halloween.  Sadly we have another Halloween with out a single trick or treater. But no worries as we had a lot of Halloween celebrating up until now.  This year I was able to complete a couple Halloween projects which I wanted to do.  The first was a Halloween mini album I purchased about 6 years ago from a company called Lickety Split Scrapbooking.  It is not that it was that complicated but it was buried in my scrapbook room and then trying to find time to craft.  The other project I was able to complete was my witches hats.  This project was not that old, but it was something I wanted to do last year.  I designed one of these hats last year and then gave it away to someone and did not have time to do one for myself.  Well this year I did…

The hat base I found at Michaels, the paper is Basic Grey Eerie, the flowers and sparkle flourish are Close to My Heart.  I used smokey plum and black cardstock to make the roses.  I then added Stickles to give the glitter look.  I really love the Sparkle Black Flourish and was the perfect addition to these hats.

Merry & Bright

I know it seems really early to be featuring Christmas layouts since we have not even gotten to Halloween yet.  I hear you and totally understand.  The great news is when you scrapbook you can pick any event, holiday or occasion and celebrated at any time.  I have just been inspired by the new Holiday from the Heart Gift Guide and having so much fun designing.

For the tittle I used silver embossing powder and ruby ink.  To achieve this two color look I used masking tape to mask off the parts of the stamp while I did each.

This will be the third  layout I will be featuring and will be offering as part of my November Scrapbook Workshop.  Let me know if you are interested in this workshop.  The first layout can be found HERE and the second layout can be seen HERE.

Connect the Dots

Here is a great video which has a couple great tips in it.  The first is how to handle those tiny sparkle embellishments by using your paper piercing tool.  The second is an idea to use up all those partial embellishments you have laying around.  Check it out…

Christmas Chreer ~ early

I have been really inspired by the new Sparkle & Shine paper.  It seemed effortless to create a series of layouts using this new paper pack.  The colors are so fun and that shimmer is so cool.

The stars with the Sparkle & Shine WOTG stamp set add a fun festive touch.

The Sparkle and shine dimensional complements are just the right touch.  I topped off the ornaments with a bit of bakers twine.

Burst of Creativity

Here is a great video which demonstrates a couple of techniques to make a sunburst style card.  I have see this technique used for many different cards and was always wondering how it was done.  I have seen it done for ornaments and a couple of other cards could not figure out how to create that half circle three dimension look.  I am totally inspired and will be posting a card using this idea in the near future.

Picking Pumpkins

I love living so close to Green Bluff as it is so much fun going to the various farms and taking advantage of the fresh fruits.   If you are not familiar with Green Bluff it is an area in the Colbert/Mead area just north of Spokane.  There are about 35  farms and starting in June you can go pick your own fruits or just pick up freshly picked.  This time of year is great as you can go pick apples in  addition to pumpkins.  I was able to scrapbook the photos from last years pumpkin picking using the Spellbound paper pack.  Here is my layout.

The banner was crated using a punch which works wonderfully with CTMHs  pennant alphabet stamp set.

ABC Blog ~ T is for Tree ~

557472_10151400024099359_81558085_n

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter T.   When I was thinking about what to create which starts with the letter “T” the first thing that popped into my mind was ~ Tree.  I love the holiday trees on the cover of the Holiday from the Heart Gift Guide.  How fun would it be to create one of those.  Here is my take on those wonderful trees.

Sparkle & Shine tree

To create this tree I used Ruby cardstock (X5927), the Sparkle and Shine paper (X7176B), Silver glitter paper (Z1829), Ruby Chevron Ribbon (Z1846) and Pink Glitter Gems ( Z1807).   To create the rosettes I cut the paper in the below dimensions.  I then used my scalloped border punch (Z1851) along each strip.  I then scored each strip as the dip in the scallop edge.  I inked the edges in ruby and then folded the paper along the score lines.  I then took my Crop-a-dial and punched a small hole in the center of the scallops.  Be careful not to catch your fingers in the center part while you are doing this ~ I learned the hard way, it hurts really bad!!!!

The next step was to glue the strips together and make the rosettes.  I used an assortment of  circles from 2″ to 5/8″ to hot glue my rosettes to, one on top and bottom.  I varied the two sizes in each layer so one was a bit smaller then the one below.  I did use a wood skewer in the center to help hold my tree strait.  The snowflakes were cut out using my Silhouette.

Strip dimensions starting from the bottom and working up to the top. These are the sizes of the strips before I used the border punch on them.

  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (3) 3″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Striped

  • (2) 2 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (2) 2″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 2″ x 12″ strips of Striped
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby
  • (2) 1 1/2″ x 12″ strips of Ruby

Trick or Treat

Well tomorrow I am off to host my first 12 hour crop.  It will be a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to some time with friends and doing what I love ~ Crafting.  Here is what I designed as a little gift for coming.

Moonlight treat boxes

I used my Silhouette to cut the treat box and tags.  I actually designed the box by taking elements from of two different designs and making it what I wanted.  I then backed the cut away with Moonlight paper.   I love the Magic Potions stamp set and knew this was the perfect idea for them. I used a masking technique to be create the multiple ink effect on the tags.  The treat tubes are just perfect for this project.
