Birthday Invitations

My son will be turning two next month and he just loves trucks.  So we decided to throw a construction theme party.  I went to Pinterest for ideas and where to start.  The invitations is where I started.  A penny slider card would be the perfect for the invitation.  So I put my Silhouette to work and designed this invitation.  I created the logo of Gavin’s Construction company and will be using it on several of the decorations.  I used Close to my heart cardstock – Saddle, Honey, Black, Sky, Slate and Daisy White. The only stamping was the clouds and for this I used the Chantilly Scrapbook WOTG.

Stay tuned for more truck themed designs….

September Scrapbook Workshop

September 11th from 6:30 to 8:30 will be my first official Scrapbook Workshop.  I have in the past offered scrapbook layout as part of my card class, but now I am going to offer it as its own entity.  This way we can focus only on the layout and make them a bit more exciting with embellishments.  For September we will be starting with Babycakes paper pack and featuring the Babycakes Complements.  The cost of the workshop is $12 and I will need your commitment by Aug 29th.  If you are not able to attend the workshop you can still purchase the page kit.  The kit and workshop come with all of the paper cut for you, directions and a color photo of the finished product.

Here is Septembers layout:

Baby Cakes Page Kit -Sept

For this layout you will use (2) 4 x 6 photos, (2) 3 x 4 photos and (4) 2 x 2 photos.  You will have about half of the Babycakes Complements left over so you could complete another layout.  Even though this paper pack is baby themed you can see that it can be used for other layouts as well.

Here is my finished product:

What’s New in Stamps

Have you seen all the new stamps sets available in the new idea book?  There are now Hostess exclusive stamps, M size stamps, re-packaging of E size stamp sets, and Jeanette’s archives.

Check out this quick video which high lights all the cool new features.

Sarita Layout

I really love all of the paper lines in the new idea book.  I only wish I had more time to work on my scrapbooks.  I guess this is a common wish of all scrapbookers.  I was looking at the Sarita paper pack and though it would be ideal for some photos I took last year from our trip to New Orleans to visit family last year.

I will walk you through the steps I generally take when I am going to scrapbook.  I start with picking and editing the photos.  I then pick the papers I want to use with the photos.  My next step is to look for a layout inspiration.  I love the Close To My Heart how to books as these are always great stepping off point.  For this particular layout I was looking at the Make it From Your Heart Volume 2.  I will look at the Quick Reference and look for a layout that will work with the number of photos I have.  In this case there were 5 photos and the layout 10 on page 24 looked perfect.  I then set out to design my layout.

Sarita Layout close up left

I used the awesome new stitch guide to mark my holes ant then went back with floss to add the stitching.   I have to be honest in saying this was time consuming and not something I will do on every layout but I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!

Sarita Layout right close up

I used the Sarita My Stickease Assortment to add additional details.

Sarita Layout_08 16 13_2041 copy

I have to be honest I did not realize until after I had completed my layout that this was the same layout that was chosen for the Sarita Workshop on the Go.  I guess great creative minds think alike.  So here is another variation of the WOTG.

BabyCakes Layout_Dog days of summer

I really love the Babycakes paper pack.  I wanted to showcase that even though some of the papers are geared to a baby, you could totally use it for anything as the colors are just splendid.   I used one of the layouts from the Make it from your Heart volume 2.   If you don’t know about these wonderful tools then you are missing out.  I love all the how to programs that are available through Close to My Heart.  When I am ready to scrapbook or make cards I will pull out my books for inspiration.  On this layout I used the Babycakes Complements which again show you it does not have to be a baby layout.  I am actually using this layout for my first Scrapbook Workshop which will begin in September.

Babycakes Open house card

This week myself and a fellow Close to My Heart consultant held a joint card workshop and open house.  We had a great time and those who came to the card workshop were able to complete 10 cards which featured the papers in the new idea book.  This was one of the cards I designed.  I was able to use my Silhouette to cut the monkey, giraffe, lion, and pennants.   I really like the new bronze shimmer trim as it adds that little bit of bling.  This card was created using the Babycakes Workshop on the Go and Wild Wonders stamp sets.

Now hop on over to VICKIE O’DELL at www.heartfulstamper.blogspot.comand see what she had created.

Drumroll Please….

944599_10151456485957574_1191619791_nWelcome to the Close to My Heart New Product Blog Hop!!!  I can’t believe August has finally arrived and all the awesome new product in the Autumn/Winter idea book is now available to order.  You will enjoy this blog hop as we are all featuring artwork created with that wonderful new product.  I was really intrigued by the new Designed Decor Frames and knew this was a project I wanted to take on right away.  Next came the decision of what paper pack to use since there are six new ones.  Well here is my creation:

ProPlayer Frame_new prod blog hop

I decided on the ProPlayer paper pack and it worked out great!  I used my silhouette to cut my own chipboard shapes to make the banner.  I also used my Silhouette to cut the letters, frames and name plates.  The rosettes are made from Nestibiliites scalloped circles.  I learned this trick by scoring at every scallop then make one slit to the center.  Next go ahead and fold at each score line.  Do the same to the second circle.  You will then glue the two ends  of each of the accordion scalloped circles together and it makes a really nice rosette.

Here is a list supplies needed:

  • Designed Decor Colonial White Frame Z1865
  • Hook Clips Z1899
  • ProPlayer Paper pack X7172B
  • ProPlayer Assortment Z1879
  • Whisper Card Stock X5929
  • Outdoor Denim Card Stock 1275
  • Outdoor Denim Ink Pad  Z2130
  • Ruby Ink Pad Z2170
  • Pacifica Ink Pad  Z2192
  • Whisper Ink Pad Z2172
  • Black Grosgrain ribbon
